I don't think he'll be a tough cover for Trevor. |
If Trevor put his mind into it and REALLY just stay with Peje ALL the time, Peja will not get more than 5-6 points...and even that is just if Peja gets lucky and the team works to create his shot.
Peja is just a spot up shooter and can't do anything offensively if a defender stays in front of him. The only chance for Peja to score is running a lot of screens for him and having Paul find him at the right moment after a screen...
Peja can't beat the statue of liberty off the dribble or rise up over a sleeping penguin. _________________

i think it's a little more complicated than that
peja knows how to run without the ball, and when tyson and west set screens, those are pretty big bodies. |

Mike Wilbon just made a great point on PTI. He brought up the phrase 'changing of the guard', and I think that's what this is. SA still can win and they still might, but we are still seeing the changing of the guard. Phoenix lost, Dallas lost, and SA is losing. The Hornets are winning, the Lakers are winning, the Jazz are up and coming and to me we're seeing a new shift in the West. I don't see any reason the Hornets and Lakers won't top the West next year too, just like when Phoenix came up and Dallas came up a few years ago they took over from the Lakers, the Kings, and some other teams. I think SA can change some stuff around Ginobli, Parker and Duncan and still be good, but we're seeing a shift in West power yet again. _________________ Weezy's Weemens

| SA is in legit trouble if they don't figure this out. I fully expect them to win the next 2 games though, they aren't the Mavs, they're smarter, tougher and just all around better. CP3 is just balling out of his mind though, he takes over the game with ridiculous ease. I'm absolutely amazed how quick this guy has progressed, he's gone from good to dominant in 3 years. He reads where passes are going for steals, he's fast as hell and can't really be stopped going to the hoop for floaters, he's a fantastic passer, he's pretty much got every weapon imaginable. If we advance to the WCF and the Hornets do as well that's going to be as hell of a tough series. |
Not trying to be a doomsdayer (sp?), but the Hornets are playing better ball right now than us and cause all sorts of matup problems with the Lakers. A big that can defend Pau, a dominant pg that can exploit Fisher's weak D (don't let game one fool you), a pf that is built a little like Odom in that he can board and run well, a sf that can shoot lights out that will be guarded by a desert tortise (Walton or Radman). We have an advantage at sg, a large one, but they matchup everywhere else REAL good. Their bench is stronger as well with Pargo and Bonzi. |
ok first of all, witht the expection of paul on fisher, our starters dominate theirs. plus, we will have ariza to guard stojakovic so don't worry. also, our bench is way deeper than their bench. all they have is pargo and maybe bonzi on a good day. just look at what happened the last time we played them. lastly, how can they be playing better than us when we're undefeated in the playoffs? |
OK, counting on a guy that hasn't played in 3 months to step into the WCF and lockdown one of the more gifted shooters in NBA history is asking A TON. So Ariza doesn't do much to make me feel better. We may have deeper bench, but they have two guys that can come in and score 20. Bonzi has always been a Laker killer IMO too.
And our starters don't dominate by any stretch. Chandler isn't the offensive player Pau is, but he's heads and tails above Pau on D. He's a DPOY candidate. Top 3 IMO. Odom dominates West? West averaged 20 and 9 during the regular season and is averaging 22 ppg in the playoffs. |
odom is more versatile than west. odom can dribble like a point guard and post up like a center. and with the addition of pau, he finally became the pippen to kobe.
i'm not too sure about chandler also. he seems like he only does good when the opposing center doesn't put up resistance. _________________

NOH needs to worry about the Spurs because all they have done is hold serve the first two games (albeit with conviction). THe Lakers need to worry about Utah who isn't just going to roll over and let us walk over them. Either way come back when your team isn't winning then we may have something to talk about. _________________ I "act" for free they pay me to wait. |

Why are you editing my quotes? My emphasis was on the way we beat you twice this season.
Once was a 30pt butt beating in New Orleans when we still had Drew.
The second meeting was a few weeks ago with the MVP and the #1 seed on the line and if I remember correctly, we went up by another 30 pts before losing interest and letting the Hornets back into the game....well close enought o make it interesting before finally pulling away. _________________ Basketball isn't part of life, it is life.

I'm not gonna put it past the Spurs to make a stand and win a couple games. They are still the champions, but unless Pop figures out how to stop CP3, Spurs is gonna be fishing soon. Hornets basically gonna rush 2 defenders at Duncan all day long to make him give it up. And then run on the Spurs any time they can get with CP3 leading the showtime-esque break. CP3 is picking them apart in halfcourt like playing chess. Pick and roll, stutter, if Duncan comes up, throw up the lob to Chandler, if Duncan sits back, go for the layup or teardrop. And nobody can really help D either cuz they have Peja waiting in the corner moving without the ball over screens. If they try to double, then dump it to West for the midrange shot.
Like I said, Pop better figure this out quick. And Ginobilli is probably gonna be the center of it. Also, CP3 is not taking any of that Bowen BS, he's making a big drama everytime Bowen touches him. Smart, because now, Bowen is basically neutralized and getting ticky tack fouls on CP3 because refs are keyed in on that matchup problem.
I mean, Pop's last resort would be to try to start something like a fight. |

1 30 point win
and 1 where we were up by 30 then let you come back |

Better root for the Spurs....to at least make it a series, because if the Hornets go up 3 and or sweep, it could mean less rest for the Lakers. At the same time, the Lakers need to take care of business in Utah...match the intensity. _________________ Basketball isn't part of life, it is life.

Yeah...actually i think we would want the Spurs to win the series..that mean it would have to atleast go to a game 6 and they woudl ahve to win 4 more games vs the hornets..and they already look tired..so by that time..they would be exhausted against the lakres _________________

West never misses that jumper.
And, Duncan needs to do something in this series if they expect to win. _________________

Hornets up two at the half....let's see what happens in this third quarter. Each third quarter prior to this, the Hornets have hit the Spurs with an avalanche and pulled away.
It looks like the same pattern about to develop here. _________________ Basketball isn't part of life, it is life.
