The Magic got robbed. You can argue otherwise but I believe that bucket that shouldn't have counted cost them the game. They lost by 7, but only because they had to foul at the end, otherwise it's a tie game or they're up by 1 at the end.

I don't get it. Don't they always look at replays for buzzer-beaters? Or only for end-game situations?

Quote:
Real GM: ESPN - The NBA admitted on Tuesday that Chauncey Billups' three-pointer at the end of the third quarter against the Magic on Monday night should not have counted, according to the Associated Press.

The referees weren't allowed to review the replay in order to make a better call during Game One, a rule that could be changed this summer.

"After reviewing the video of last night's Pistons-Magic game, we determined that the play that concluded with Chauncey Billups' 3-point field goal at the end of the third quarter took approximately 5.7 seconds," League President Joel Litvin said in a statement. "Because there were only 5.1 seconds remaining in the quarter when the play began, the shot would not have counted had the clock continued to run."

The NBA said that the timekeeper for the game was from a neutral city, standard procedure under the league's rules.

"The referees followed proper procedure in addressing the clock malfunction by estimating the elapsed time and using their judgment as to whether the shot was taken in time," Litvin said. "Under NBA rules, the referees did not have the option of using instant replay and a timing device to determine exactly how much time had elapsed, nor do the rules allow for a re-play after a clock malfunction is discovered."

Lot of good that does the Magic now. disagree

Stern is such a tool.

Yeah, the Magic definitely got robbed. And they should be up by 1 at the end, and completely changed the game as the Pistons would be the ones fouling.

NBA has become such a joke about their refs and calls, it's ridiculous.

Damn, Orlando is destroying them. Guess they're a little peeved after that clock fiasco.

If Orlando wins this game or this thing goes to 6 or 7 that call in the last game is going to matter even more. I'm still of the opinion that the refs/rules stole a game from the Magic.

Sheed's in foul trouble.

Magic have a lot going in their favor tonight. They need a big W.

Refs are being very lenient with Sheed. I'm extremely surprised they haven't T'ed him up yet

Yeah, that's what they said during game 1.

I think he has 4 techs (Games 1,3,4 of the Philly series, Game 1 Orlando series). Isn't it 6 T's before the suspension?

But if he is one T away from suspension, might as well get it out of the way and sit out Saturday since the Pistons are gonna be dropping Game 4 anyway. Billups has had the hamstring problem for awhile and this injury will probably hold him out until next week.

Just looked it up. Yeah he only has 4. You get suspended on the 7th.

Well, damn the last 2:45 of this 3rd quarter has taken like 5 minutes

Rediculous on how many free throw attempts, hurry up and end the game!

Come on Magic, I like that your taking jump shots but lets please not foul and let the clock run down. We have to see Kobe's MVP Presentation!
