Kobe Bryant
25 PPG
5.3 RPG
4.6 APG
1.5 SPG
Michael Jordan
30.1 PPG
6.2 RPG
5.3 APG
2.35 SPG
Jerry West
27 PPG
5.8 RPG
6.7 APG
2.6 SPG (steals not recorded until his final season)
Who was the greatest and why?
Kobe vs. MJ. You all knew it was coming.
This should be interesting with a group mature enough to discuss the Kobe vs. MJ topic without resorting to personal attacks. _________________

I like that you simplified this poll with only 3 choices.
Gotta be:
1. Jordan
2. Kobe
3. Logo _________________ If you would attain to what you are not yet, you must always be displeased by what you are. For where you are pleased with yourself there you have remained. Keep adding, keep walking, keep advancing.

My list is the same as TIME's
1.Jordan
2.Kobe
3.West
Jordan is the best, plain and simple. The scoring, the defense, the absolute killer instinct and winning mentality, 6 championships, reels and reels of highlights. Kobe is the closest we've seen to him I think. _________________ Weezy's Weemens

Quoted for truth, and Kobe's career isn't even near over. _________________ Sweet Daddy Barnstable's Bad A** Broads:

The staggering part is that Kobe's not even done yet.
Will he "surpass" Michael? It's a definite possibilty, which I feel largely depends on the success Kobe has in the latter part of his career in terms of LOB trophies. As of now, I'll agree with everyone else -- Jordan is the greatest to ever play the 2-guard followed by Kobe. _________________

I'm going to play with semantics for a moment. As far as the best 2 guard, West falls behind Jordan and Bryant. As far as a "SG", West was the best pure shooter of the three. There's never been a quicker, purer, prettier, more clutch jump-shot than West's. I realize I'm twisting the context, but as far as a "shooting guard"? I give it to the Logo. _________________

Sorry guys, but I've still gotta go with the Logo over Kobe AS OF THIS VERY SECOND.
Kobe looks to be on the fast track to passing him, but the numbers West put up can't be overlooked:
# 1969 NBA Finals MVP
# 1972 NBA Champion
# 13x NBA All-Star (1961-73)
# 1972 NBA All-Star MVP
# 10x All-NBA First Team (1962-67, 1970-73)
# 2x All-NBA Second Team (1968, 1969)
# 3x NBA All-Defensive Team (1970-73)
Career Averages of 27 ppg, 6 rpg, 7 apg over the course of 14 seasons. I need to see Kobe maintain his high level of play for a few more seasons & snag a ring as the leader of the squad before he passes West in my eyes. _________________

| Man...if Kobe keeps playing like this.....look out. Defensively MJ was better. Offensively...they're about even or I'd give the edge to Kobe. He's been much more efficient since he's had consistent help around him. He has the variety, the footwork, the post game, the slashing, the spot-up shooting, the creativity, and the range. Offensively he has no weakness. |
