Yeah, I'm not really getting how the Batsignal is cheesy myself. It's Batman, it's been there since like the start of Batman hasnt' it, like even in the comics? It's not cheesy in the least to me, if they didn't have it I'd feel like they left something out, it's in the animated series, the old movies, the comics, it's as much Batman as the Batmobile or the Joker. I mean how else are they supposed to contact Batman when they need him and he's out flying around the city at night, the Bat Beeper? The Bat Cell Phone? Now THAT would be cheesy and ridiculous. _________________ Weezy's Weemens

Thats my point, the bat signal belongs in cartoons, old cheesey 60's movies, and comics.
not so much for this darker toned batman
and boy your taking it to the extreme, how about batman dropping in on a regular basis? or just bugging the police HQ? Im sure Batman, with all his gadgets and such, could survive without needing a signal in the sky.
the signal is not completely neccessary, thats all im saying _________________ TONY STARK WAS ABLE TO BUILD THIS IN A CAVE......WITH A BOX OF SCRAPS!!! - Obadiah Stane

Think of the bat signal as more of a symbol for the people of Gotham City. Like a security blanket. There's crime, they see the bat symbol in the sky and know the Batman is on the case or something, I dunno what the hell I'm talking about... _________________

I think the bad guys always know Batman is around, they don't seem to really care, crime runs rampant in Gotham. I think we're taking it to ridiculous levels of scrutiny now. I mean Batman Begins is a darker more realistic take on Batman, but if you really look at it it's still silly. It's a grown man in a bat costume beating up on criminals, if you really analyze it his tough guy voice when he's Batman is hilariously over the top. I try not to though, it's a comic book movie, it's not meant to be taken serious, this is just as realistic as it gets which is still not really realistic at all. I for one like the Bat signal, if it's cheesy then so is everything else in Batman. _________________ Weezy's Weemens

Bat signal shows that batman is on the streets. It tells the bad guys don't bother robbing that bank becuase Batman is on the prowl. However when he doesn't answer the bat signal crimes escalates becuase they know he isn't around.
It is really the best way to get in contact with him. For all intensive purpose he is basically a private detective. except for the obvious he doesn't have a phone to call.
Plus in short it's just kind of awesome to have a signal in the sky for yourself. _________________ Strikemode14 is the greatest.

ridiculous level of scrutiny? its a signal in the sky....only blind people will miss the signal.
now if you really want ridiculous level of scrutiny, read strikemode's talk about how Obadiah Stane is totally random, the jericho missles would have had battalions, and basically how Tony Stark should have been caught and killed in the cave
anyway, i said it never took away from Batman begins, and since it IS suppose to be a more "realistic" take, then stay consistent and dont put in the bat signal. Batman with all his gadgets CAN make way without a signal in the sky.
In the movie, i thought to myself when Falconi was left by batman: "hey look, this would probably be the only reference to the bat signal. but DAMN is it awesme"....nope.
but w/e really, BB is my no.2 comic book film
i guess i should have seen these responses coming.....you can make an ocean of drool from batman fans right now over the dark knight, and any criticism of the batman franchise would start a frenzy of anger _________________ TONY STARK WAS ABLE TO BUILD THIS IN A CAVE......WITH A BOX OF SCRAPS!!! - Obadiah Stane

Dang man, chill, we're just talking. I'm not upset and I don't care if you don't like the Batsignal I'm just saying I dont' mind it at all personally. I didn't say you were being ridiculous if you took it that way, I just meant WE were getting into a ridiculous level of scrutiny here in our conversation, myself included, and I didn't really care about it on that deep of a level. When we start getting into whether the Bat-signal is cheesy and whether he should tap the police station or get a scanner like Peter Parker in Spider-Man or whatever I check out, too many details. I'm just about enjoying the movie for the big stuff, not sweating the small stuff, I'm a Batman fan, but not a fanboy.
Great pics by the way lqv, gonna save those to my comp. The Joker looks awesome in those, you can see his face and the details much clearer than usual. You can actually make out what's on his card now, a joker killing Batman, or having his head on a spike, awesome. _________________ Weezy's Weemens

You're taking my post out of context. When people are claiming that Iron man is the best comic movie ever and then it has these huge flaws in it then yeah I am going to say something abou tit.
Secondly over scrutinizing would me saying the iron man suit is unrealstic or no billionaire would reveal their identity. What was straight up saying is pure common sense. Talk about being blind to see the bat signal. 3 months survellience..finally they realzie what they do.. give him a 1 day deadline which you would think they would monitor him the whole 1 day but, don't for no good reason.
Just let him put together something that may allow him to escape no big deal. Then random bad guy shows up which Tony is his meal tickets and for no good reason oh well I guess i will kil him no big deal becuase he wants to double dip which how much stark parties wouldn't realize it. Who uncovers this plot...Shield?..No...the army...no?...maybe piper nope..Some random reporteer he just so happen slept with so she revelead to him what was going on.
I am sorry man Iron man was a good film but, when people start claiming it's the best comic film out there had to point out the flaws. _________________ Strikemode14 is the greatest.

Seen the movie for a 3rd time today, and i still had alot of fun if not more so than the previous 2 times. And i will say, proudly, best superhero movie HANDS DOWN.
Once again, they DID notice the suit, they DID suspect something was going on. And like i said before, you obviously were lost because they were building main part of the suit behind a sort of wall structure. Which is why the head terrorists later said "where's Stark?" Then Tony was ready for the escape and was suiting up. Stark and Yensung also had built decoy Jericho missles which you must have missed too.
And like Weezy said (although talking about Batman, same applies here)...its a COMIC BOOK movie. Yes, lets let Stark get caught and die....everybody go home

I have no idea what your talking about.....What did the reporter reveal? Nothing that anybody else most likely didn't already know. All she did was brought attention to Tony Stark of a current event regarding his weapons, which made the News.....of course the Stark Enterprise weapons weren't mentioned, most likely from media bias....which of course happens in reality too...how often do you hear about American weapons being used by terrorists to kill people?
This really shows how much depth the movie had, it had an anti-war angle and spoke alot about America today...loved it!

Yeah they noticed it...when he was dang near finish with it lol. Then when the big bad boss says "You have 1 more day" when he thought something was up. Instead of using common sense and just have a guard standing there looking at him they just let him do what he wants anyway.
I mean this thing had a missile, flame thrower, guns a blazing on it and didnt' notice lol. Even for a comic book movie that level of stupidity is just pushing it. Batman begins didn't that kind of ridiclous hiccup. Even the spidey films i would rank much higher even spidey 3 which says alot.
I am not saying let stark die more like write a better situation then that. It would have been easier to have just been building the suit at stark enterprise and the main bad guy just finds the plants and builds a better one. simple and logical plan that makes more sense. Don't get me even started on how he got captured in the first place..fun V
My point is you want me to just ignore all the idiotic scenes but, when you start saying it's the best superhero movie the weaknesses come out. Kind of like when you are comparing MVP candiates. Every little weakness comes out.

The reporter was the only one to know that stark enterprises were selling weapons. Shield or the gov't couldn't figure it out, no investigation but, only this lowly reporter realizes that the corporation is selling missiles.
As for being a DC homer I'm not. If anything you are just being a marvel homer either that or just having a kneejerk reaction. No way Iron man is the best comic book movie. Hell I not only mention that batman is better to be quite frankly I rank spiderman 1-3, Blade 1-2, and punisher higher then iron man.
Anyway let's not derail this topic with iron man talk. Let's just keep it in the iron man thread _________________ Strikemode14 is the greatest.

Wow, i wont even bother with you on this....ABSURD scrutiny here that doesn't hold water. Being such a DC washed boy you are, it wont even matter to respond.
I already told you they hid the parts, they were in pieces!
The reporters wasnt the only person to know, and how can you assume that she was? Did the movie go into everybody on the planet showing ignorance for you to make that assumption???
Nice, trying to turn the tables on me. Im not a Marvel homer, spider-man is my ALL-TIME favorite hero, but NO WAY would I put it higher than Batman Begins. Spidey 1-3 have so many problems within them, they really are mediocre movies (except Spidey 2, its good-great) I hate Raimi, I hate Tobey, I hate Kirsten and I hate their lazy CGI team.
heck, you even said that the Justice League is better planned than the Avengers...what does that tell everyone on this board?
Fair enough, continue this discussion on the iron man thread _________________ TONY STARK WAS ABLE TO BUILD THIS IN A CAVE......WITH A BOX OF SCRAPS!!! - Obadiah Stane

^ keep OT discussion out of TDK thread ...or take it to the Iron man thread jokingg
Also, in terms of what superhero movie is the best. I"ve always been a Batman fan and Begins was a great film so I'm going with this franchise, but if someone prefers Spiderman or Iron man then I wouldn't argue. All 3 films were great (minus Spidy 3),had a different formula, (although Begins and Iron man were a little similar) and were innovating in it's own special way so to each his own
Now if you said Fantastic 4 was better then Begins thats when the gloves come off _________________ http://youtube.com/watch?v=WLZ3uDDAP0c

Ha ha that was SICK!!! The way he said "this city deserves a better class of criminal' sounded a bit different than the trailer, he whispered it like menacingly and we actually got to see him say it, very cool. The neck crack was awesome too, just creepy, and what the heck was that blueish flash towards the end, looked like the Joker's face in that blue fire, weird. _________________ Weezy's Weemens

Fair enough, continue this discussion on the iron man thread |
my reply will be in the iron man thread. _________________ Strikemode14 is the greatest.
