I'm no doctor, but I can only wonder if he's suffering from reactive hypoglycemia.
Quite frankly, it's where your blood sugar runs low hours after a meal.
I'm a diabetic (most know this) and typical hypoglycemia is caused by a diabetic taking too much insulin or being too active without enough food. But...there's also something called reactive hypoglycemia, which is what non-diabetics get.
They said it was vertigo...but for some reason, he was still having trouble after coming back out on the floor.
I don't know. Ben Wallace has been struggling since leaving Detroit, and it just seems weird because even though Detroit's defense was more of a team effort than anything, Wallace's strength, awareness, and body control (especially for rebounds) has been very weird...and when your blood sugars are low, you're very dizzy, disoriented, and confused, with blurry vision.
Again, he's not as effective as he was in Detroit, but even his rebounding and things he used to do as an individual has dropped significantly.

Cavs' Wallace blames allergies for his departure from Game 2

Wallace, the team's third-leading rebounder, left the game in the first quarter with what was originally called "dizziness" and never returned. He said he expects to play Game 3 in Cleveland on Saturday night.
"I got lightheaded," he said. "There was smoke in the first quarter. You can't play basketball with your head spinning like that."
During pregame introductions, fireworks were set off on the court -- like before Game 1 -- and smoke remained in the opening minutes, slowly lifting to the ceiling.
Boston seemed to take advantage of Wallace's absence inside, taking the ball to the basket more when it recovered from an early 21-9 deficit. Wallace played
3:40 and had two rebounds. In Game 1's loss, he grabbed nine rebounds in just over 31 minutes.
"Ben is a starter for us," Cavaliers coach Mike Brown said. "He has played big in the playoffs so far, so to loose him in the playoffs is tough, but that's not what the problem was here tonight."
Boston, which has been somewhat of an outside shooting team for most of the postseason, outscored Cleveland 28-22 in the paint and went to the free throw line 38 times, hitting 28.
Teammate Zydrunas Ilgauskas didn't immediately know why his Wallace left the game.
"It happened so fast," he said. "Obviously we missed him on the boards. We hope he's going to be OK." |

I've always thought those fireworks and the resultant smoke is a stupid idea. And its no surprise to hear it blamed for some complications..
May be a small excuse, but its legit in my eyes

| He could be diabetic and not know it. It would be very rare for someone of his fitness level but it is possible. It would also explain lower energy levels, losing some athletic ability and his general slump. Still I'd think his sugar levels would have been tested, but unless they did a fasting blood sugar or AIC it would be hard to tell. |

Well, that's just it...he doesn't have to be diabetic to have hypoglycemia. |

| The NBA really needs to stop letting teams use fireworks , it changes the surroundings for the first quarter and distracts other teams |

| Look at all this talk about allergies and diabetes. The man is finished. He has absolutely no skill and was an amazing defender/rebounder/garbage man for a couple years. He got paid and is mailing it in mentally and physically due to age. |

the Kings did it when our rivalry started (they burned a Kobe jersey) , but the Celtics are the only team that does it on a regular basis(not sure if the same goes for the regular season but theyve done it for every playoff game) |

For any team, the NBA commission has got to do something about those fireworks inside a building, not only dangerous, but leaves visible smoke still in the air, was watching in the Gym, and it was hecka foggy.

yea it looks terrible on TV and Im sure the players aren't too fond of it either |

Phil was mentioning before game 3 on the ESPN Mic'd coverage that the players should be careful not to breathe in the motorcycle exhaust from the pregame activities. They need to ban crap like that

I've had infections due to allergies before as well, and let me tell you, the dizziness could get bad.
Since your ears have cells that are involved in balance, an infection in one sinus or ear, can really throw off your coordination, often times leading to vertigo.
Anyhow, great to see that Big Ben played tonight. He may not be what he4 used to be, but he's still key for the Cavs if they are to experience any success in the post season.
