hey,
I didn't even know we had a MLE.
ok taking a look at the roster, we now need some guard to defend on the perimeter.like sports0fan said ron could be an option...
but i'm much more into something more special and less risky.
In my opinion it's much easier to find an athletic guard to defend for cheap then it is to get something really special, i'm just saying there are other options that are maybe less of an commercial impact than Ron -Ron.
Pietrus for example...he's a great defender, can hit a shot an isn't known for his controversial style....(team player)
and what about a real point guard???
I know you fellas are down with Jordan, and i like his game, but he's more of a scorer then a floor general.
What abaout Calderon?(toronto will try to resign him FOR SURE) his stats are of the charts, and he's a team player who connects well with Pau...
But I also doubt we could get Ron or Calderon for the MLE, while pietrus could still be available...and maybe without offering the MLE, in a trade for Luke and a 2nd or something...
But it all depends on if we make another move before the trade-dead-line...

Artest for MLE is pipe. He'll probably finish his career a Knick, unless he REALLY wants that ring.
I'd still go after Kurt Thomas with half of the MLE. He wants a ring and he could play back-up 4/5 along with Ronny, depending on the match-up.
Gasol, Bynum, Turiaf, Thomas. That is a fantastic big core right there. Very versatile, big, good/great defensively overall, all can swat.
I want a defending PG as well, watching Farmar these last few games has scared me. Problem is, getting one for cheap will be tough unless we trade (Odom for Miller, Cardinal, Lowry ) If Lindsey Hunter is willing to play one more season, I'd throw half the MLE at him for one season as well. Make him an offer he can't refuse. He is still a good defender who is savvy as ish in the playoffs. _________________

Man, you people NEED to stop putting the cart before the horse. WE HAVEN'T EVEN GOTTEN PAST THE 1ST ROUND SINCE SHAQ LEFT. So, let's be humble for a change! |

If you don't think this is a championship level team, you need to check yourself. _________________

Hard to pin down what Artest says. He says his agent thinks he can get 14-15 mil a year. If that remark is for real, Good luck ron.
I suspect it might be a ploy to scare teams off. By saying that, it narrows the list of of teams willing to pay a troubled star to zero. I doubt if NY is even going to pay that much. If he does great, it ain't going to be the Lakers. |

I hope someone has Luke in a compromising position with RJ. That way we can coerce Luke into retiring. |

I didn't say it wasn't. Here, let me point out the part that irks me:

We haven't won anything yet, so we need to keep it humble until we do. Then, we can all claim our spot on Fig for the parade.
Until then, stop assuming we've got it in the bag. |

| ron is not comin for the mle he is guaranteed to get a pay day of at leat ten mil per and honestly ron is a great defender but the guy likes the ball in his hand a lot on offense he'll dribble out the whole shot clock until he scores if he had it his way at least thats what a lot of reporters say in sacramento. we got kobe bynum and pau, i dunno if ron ron can handle being a 4th option |

Check it out the Lakers should try to save money so get Chris Duhon and Jamal Magloire at veterans minimums with half the MLE and provide depth at the 2 weakest positions.
Also if we can get Josh Childress for Radmonovic that would make sense as well giving us more versatility. |

or
Use as much of the MLE as it takes to bring either of these back to LA. I think Lue is a more likely option because he's a couple years older. Either one of these guys would give us a good defensive backup with triangle experience.
And then we can tell Farmar to:

I'd absolutely kill for Pargo on this team. Dude can REALLY ball.
Pargo for MLE and K. Thomas for minimum would be my ideal offseason. Problem is, I don't think any of that would happen.
So, I'll say it again.
Odom and George's Son for Lowry, Collins, and Miller?
Defender we need at the 1, someone who can push Farmar as well.
Mike Miller is a baller and a dude I really think has a good overall game. Not as bad of a defender as people make him out to be. _________________

Get Jannero Pargo? that'll be nice.
competition for Farmar never hurts. It'll help with the development of BOTH players, Pargo and Farmar.
But hornets will want to resign Pargo. We should offer him our full MLE... |

I agree. These are two guys the front office should push for during the offseason. |

I would like to see Lakers upgrade at backup center and PG. I see two scenarios at PG. One they try for Pargo or Lue as backup. Other would be to try and trade say Radman, Farmar and the Charlotte second round pick next year for Calderon and then have Fisher as the backup.
I think they need to upgrade at backup center also and if they traded for a starting PG that would allow them to use part of MLE on a center. Diop or Kurt Thomas would be nice. |

I'd rather have Royal Ivey than Chris Duhon. Ivey is a much better defender, not to mention he would bea great triangle guard. He's a good passer, and a very good defender.
I like Diop for the MLE as well.
Royal Ivey and DaSagana Diop and I'd be a happy camper.
I still think if we could get Kwame back for the LLE(nothing more) than do it. He is athetic and a good defender, even if he is nonexistent on offense. |
