Blowouts are one thing, but have they won a close game in the playoffs yet? SI.com pretty much nails it with this statement:

Quote:
To state the obvious: These Boston Celtics are not a championship team. It's a huge surprise after their dominance of the regular season, but under the defensive pressure of the playoffs their three stars have lost all feeling for how to play off one another. They are a numb offensive team that doesn't feed off strengths or mismatches, that doesn't develop a go-to scorer during the game and doesn't exhibit poise when mandatory. Over the closing minutes of tight games the Celtics look as if they have no idea where to go with the ball or which of them should take over. This is why no overhauled team has ever won a title in its first year together: It takes years for a championship team to learn to play together and barring some kind of heavenly revelation the No. 1 seed isn't going to achieve that unity this postseason. They still might win this series; but in the bigger picture, the superior Spurs, Pistons, Hornets, Lakers and Jazz have all been together longer and aren't facing the steep postseason learning curve that is exposing these Celtics. "I haven't said that all year, but goldarn it you're right," said Celtics coach Doc Rivers when asked about the team's lack of poise. "We have to play better under stress, there's no doubt about it. I call them 'hero shots' and I thought we took a lot of those, instead of just trusting what we do

The C's are lucky this isn't a sweep right now. If bron even played halfway decent in game 1 and 2 it's over right now.

The probelm with the c's is that the man who should be leading the charge down the stretch is pierce. Probelm is he is exhausted from guarding Bron.

IMHO I would insert Posey into the starting lineup and put Allen on the bench. That was Pierce is more rested and then allen can do his thing against the second unit ala manu does on the spurs sometimes.

C's better be careful....not smart to give the momentum back to the Cavs, who btw, are still the defending east champs....Pierce and Allen have YET to put their stamp on these playoffs...im waiting for them to get it going...if they dont, Lebron and the Cavs can steal this series....

On a side note, its great to see these "invincible" Celtics get blown out on the road by the crappy cavaliers....

HUUUUGE game today. Of course everyone for the most part expects the Celts to win, especially following that amazing trend of teams now being 17-1 at home here, BUT all that being said, I'm truly givin' the Cavs a shot. I hope I'm right. Worst case scenario, Celts blow em' out. I'm just hoping for a close game all the way mostly, & for the Cavs to have a shot down the stretch and taking this game, if not a blowout by the Cavs, lol, but who am I kidding, that's just not gonna' happen. NOBODY blows out the Celts in their home, it'd be beyond a miracle. Anyway, hope the game doesn't disappoint.

By the way, looking back on Saturday's halftime interview with Bill Russell & KG, as touching as that story was, I can't help but literally laugh my arse off if the Celts get eliminated by the Cavs. Oh yeah & like someone mentioned earlier, finally having that stupid overhyped Celtic Gatorade commercial over with, or if not, instead of being annoyed by it still, it'll now be entertaining and nothing short of hilarious.

We forgot how close the first game was....Lebron and the Cavs have a legit shot at beating the Celtics in Boston....

When is Ray Allen gonna realize you don't touch LeBron on layups, he's just gonna get an and 1 on you. I was cracking up in I can't remember if it was game 3 or game 4 when LeBron got fouled by Allen and Allen went flying and ended up on the floor and LeBron hit the tough layup and was still standing. mhihi This game is all defense so far, not very exciting as usual.

Celtics are in trouble if LeBron finds his game. He already has 11 points.

KG travels, no call, hits the jumper. I'd like to think a championship team would score more than 13 in the 1st quarter of a game 5 at home. man11 And you're right Legendary, LeBron looks to be himself, Celtics should be worried.

I do think this could be about experience. Cleveland has a lot of the same players they had when they went to the Finals last year and Boston has three superstars who have yet to play together in really meaningful games.....and boy is it showing.

If Boston does get by Cleveland, I am not sure they will get by Detroit.

Not just experience, but toughness.

Guys like Varejao, Joe Smith, and Ben Wallace are willing to get down and dirty to get rebounds. Guys like Delonte West are tough perimeter defenders. And coach Mike Brown has excellent defensive schemes.

I remember people were calling out Brown for not calling out LeBron and implying he's a bad coach...LOL. If anything, the guy gets overshadowed by LeBron. He's a defensive genius! I hope the Cavs win this series. I hate the Celtics and LeBron is the man!

Just my .02

This will be a 7 game series. Even if the Cavs drop this one, they'll win game 6 at home.

That seems to be where this is headed. If the Celtics advance after another 7 game series, they'll probably have nothing left in the tank for Detroit.

Can you say overkill on that song from the Departed? I hear it at least 3x per Boston game.

Celts couldn't break the full court press. Cavs only down by 4.

Poor free throw shooting is killing the Cavs right now
