Oh gee, c'mon 1? That was a stupid joke anyway, I haven't gotten' on it in ages & don't plan to either. I say it was stupid specifically because I made it as an alternative in case things ever got too bad with my Chicano name, and I wanted to get away from all the bullying, but that's just hilarious now looking back. How could I have been so weak. (waits for smart comments or funny comments of: cuz you ARE! lol) Anyway, it's also a shame too, cuz I know for a fact a lot of other members really thought that was one of the most clever usernames as did I, which is why I chose it of course, but unfortunately, no one will ever be able to use it. |

these poor imitations are so sad. I can tell there are a few on the boards right now including fatboy. At least make it realistic OR entertaining. No pics of fake tats, fake boobs, overweight dudes, fake models (you know who you are) and others. At least come up with a plausible story like this that is believable. |

I don't know about American law...
but in Canada, your case would be thrown out.
discrimination(at least in Canadian terms) is based on two things,
one: characteristics in which you can not change and are born with. race/ethnicity/sex, etc
two: personal characteristics so deeply rooted that no one expects you to change, religion, sexual orientation, etc.
In your example, weight does not fall under one of the two categories.
yes there are studies that show, weight has a lot to do with your family genes, so arguably it can go under things in which you can not change...
but that debate involves a lot more than six flags or other amusement parks.
unless you and your lawyer can make a convincing argument that weight is something you can not change form the day you were born... you have no case.
again, this is under Canadian law, I may be totally off base in terms of American law... I know there are many fundamental differences from a few cases i've seen. _________________

Aside from this being 100% fake - I do have an advice for anyone who might be in a similar situation:
Lose weight. Eat less, cut the calories, exercise. It's not complicated at all. _________________

spoken like a person who has never had excess weight.
I do sympathize somewhat, just not enough to go looking for law changes. But for those born gravity challenged or raised in an environment that caused some pretty bad food/excercise habits to be ingrained, it's just not that easy. |

negative.
it's easy for us fit/skinny people to say that, we've never been through the struggle
I used to think the same... until I took a nutrition class last semester.
there are many mechanisms the body goes through to fight losing weight. (it is after all, a basic survival mechanism) our body wants to stay the same weight, and not lose any.
for example, obese people have more LPL (lipo protein lipase) in their bodies, what does LPL do? promotes the capturing of triglycerides (fats) from the blood to the Adipose Tissue. (fat cells)
when the obese person loses weight via healthy diet and exercise. the amount of LPL does not decrease.
they have to work even harder than us fit people. because we have less LPL.
this is why the YO YO effect is so common. I think the stat is 90%(can't remember off the top of my head) go back to there original weight within 5 years. _________________

the yo yo effect and regaining of weight is common because you can never reduce the total number of adipocytes, they only shrink. obese people are prone to quicker responses in synthesizing and expressing LPL receptors but receptor expression is not really as much of an issue compared to the total number of adipocytes. |
