"It's whole different story. It's different type of guarding, and it's ... it's ... hell," said Kirilenko (comparing how to guard Kobe and McGrady)
here is the article it came from

At least he was smart enough not to say "When I guarded him in the 4th he didn't score." Last time he said that, Kobe blew up for 52 points in 3 quarters on him just a week later. _________________ http://www.youtube.com/LakersRule24

It was a game in early November last year at Utah, Kobe was playing well through 3 quarters but was scoreless in the 4th quarter when AK guarded him and the Lakers lost a double digit lead. Here's the exact quote "When I guarded him in the 4th quarter." Then the Utah newspaper had Kobe shut down by Kirilenko as their headline. The very next week, Kobe dropped 52 on him. _________________ http://www.youtube.com/LakersRule24

Only one word can come close to explaining what it must be like guarding Kobe:
Hell. _________________

I can only imagine. Anyone would be sweating bullets. Even if Kobe isn't looking to attack (i.e. the 4th quarter in game 5), you can't let your guard down because you know he can explode at will and his first step is so damn dangerous. I would think its both physically and mentally draining. _________________ Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia - Fear of long words |

| Well, he's sincere, props to him. And to be fair, he's doing as good a job as can be done, you simply can't do better against Kobe. |

| Didn't earlier in the season AK-47 say T-mac was harder to guard than Kobe? |

HAH! Kobe Bryant...
Me and 4 of my coworkers could easily guard him. He's not so tough... |

Funny thing is that [Swearing is not permitted at Clublakers. You must edit this post prior to submitting.] didn't understand it was part of the gameplan. Kobe was sitting in the 4th quarter outside to draw AK out so he wouldn't be able to wreck havoc swatting everyone. _________________ Proud Member of Team Farmar |

sort of. He said last season that T-Mac was the most difficult person he's had to guard. |

Kobe dribbling, side to side movement, and ability to go either direction or raise up with a deadly J. That's hell right there trying to guard that. It is just a guessing game by the defender.
You guess wrong, and it's a dunk. If you try to slack off, then he just drains it in your face. Then you try to block his jumper, Kobe gives you the fake and you get a foul, and go sit on the bench. You stack left, he goes right. You stack right, he goes left. You send 2 up high, he splits them or just spins out to draw you out. You double, and Kobe just drops a dime to the slasher. |
