|
|
The OFFICIAL thread to talk anything related to referees/officiating for any NBA game.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I decided to avoid the clutter with refs threads and decided to make one official thread. Here is where I'll post the refs for each of our games, and my thoughts as well. We can all talk about the officiating here.
Officiating Crew for Game 6: Joey Crawford, James Capers, Scott Foster
(Sorry I could not find pictures of the other 2).
Breakdown: The officiating should be alright tomorrow night, this is a much more efficient crew than I thought the NBA would assign for Game 6. Joe Crawford is the meanest, harshest, and most unphased ref in the league. Though I'll admit he can be a homer at times, he's one of the only refs I know who will not allow the Utah fans to get under his skin and sway his calls. Same goes for Capers and Foster, but to a much lesser extent. Believe it or not, Joey finished much higher than both Scott and James in the "homer" statistics from the regular season. Foster is a damn good ref IMO, and we've seen Capers a lot this year, both in LA and on the road, and he hasn't done anything really to cause me to say anything bad about him. Though Utah will do what they usually do at home, this crew will make sure everything remains calm and that the game is balanced and even. Don't expect Utah to get away with as much as they did in Games 3 and 4, but also don't expect the refs to just hand the game to the Lakers. The Lakers are going into a hostile environment - they need to adjust and they'll get the calls they deserve from this crew.
Prediction: Utah wins, but this prediction has nothing to do with the refs. We'll be fine on that end of the stick. This is an elimination game for Utah, and they thrive off of their home crowd. I'm sure it will be a close game, but we all know how difficult it is to pull out a victory there, let alone a WCF clinching game. If we limit our turnovers and play more physical on defense, we'll keep it close, and then it'll be anyone's game at the end. I just think Utah will pull it out at home as they always do. Though I hope I'm wrong, I expect a Game 7 on Monday guys. _________________ I drank a fifth of vodka, dare me to drive?

I'm actually kindve glad Joey C is the ref for this game. He's a no nonsense, take no **** take no prisoners kindve guy. Plainly put, he just don't give a ****. And were not the Spurs so I don't really remember any long standing beefs with him and our squad. I expect this game to be more fairly called for both sides than games 3&4.
I really don't know the other 2 so well.
Great thread though Juan, your insight on this (which is as vast as the importance of the topic being discussed) is appreciated
I don't truly believe in nba conspiracies as full blown as say: david stern directs the refs, "I need a game 7, make sure the jazz win" but I do feel the refs have a great hand in both shaping and deciding the games
Let's hope the coins fall 50/50 tomorrow and we prove it on the court, and not by the whistle

me neither but if they do exist it is a good thing for us because of our market.
even if the refs make us lose in Utah we would ultimately win if the refs or Stern were really fixing the games |

I don't trust Crawford at all....it's a bad sign.
And there have been games in the past where he's screwed the Lakers big time...one that comes to mind is a game at Philly 2 seasons ago where he basically allowed Iggy to mug Kobe all night long and int he end deliver a close contest to the Sixers.
And who can forget his infamous run-in with Timmy which got him suspended by the league.
That being said...critical event for us tomorrow, how long Fish can stay in the game without picking up two quick fouls and getting benched for the half.
Also Phil might do well to bring the wraps off Ariza and stick him on DWill to make his life miserable. _________________ Basketball isn't part of life, it is life.

| I'm glad JCrawford is officiating - he seems to not give a darn where the game is, or the situation. He likes to make examples of people, so if the Lakers could get an edge early, and into the 3rd qtr, the Jazz might get frustrated and Joey will T them up right away. |

OHHHH MAN JOEY CRAWFORD....WATCH OUT
from the start you will be able to tell which side this guy is on.....or if he is calling it neutral....the rest of the refs are DIRTTYYY followers to crawford. _________________ Can't mess with a squad that got screwed out of 1 game in the finals and was 2 games away (technically should have been 1 game away) from an NBA title THAT ADDS THIS in 08-09

joey crawford is either an advantage or disadvantage
it all depends on which side of the bed he wakes up on, the lakers side, or the utah side
i personally dont like him as a ref at all |

I appreciate your observation on tonight's refs. I'm looking forward to your insights on the other officials.
All t hat said, the Lakers were a good road team, I give them a chance to pull it out as long as the refs keep it honest. |

he seems like a good guy to have when we play in Utah, but don't want him there when the game is in LA. he doesn't play towards the crowd and will T early. _________________

STOP THE PRESSES!!!
It's Danny Crawford, not Joey Crawford tonight!

Juano, Let us know how this changes things IYO. The last time Stern sent two black refs into Utah was game 4 _________________

NBA.com still lists JOEY as the ref for the game:

I hated Danny Crawford before that. He's one guy, who NEVER gives Kobe any calls. Has T'd him up plenty for complaining too. God, I hope it's Joey C. |

| I like Crawford.. I just hate the fact that it totally seems like the refs have directed every single game in this series. It's almost as if I have no hope for tonight's game. |

Your prediction is very bad. Your arguement is that the Lakers cant handle the Jazz in Utah. Very weak IMO. _________________
