Stephon Marbury's fitness declaration has failed to impress at least one of his Knicks' teammates, who said that Marbury says the same thing every year, the New York Daily News is reporting.

"It's the same story every year," says one veteran Knick. "He's doing this, he's doing that, he's running hills, he's lifting weights. And then on the first day of training camp he can't even finish some of the drills."

Marbury, who is entering the final year of his lucrative contract, may not play out the season with the Knicks.

According to the report, if President Donnie Walsh acquires a point guard, Marbury likely will be released, according to a league source.

David Lee, who is looking for a contract extension, seems the most likely candidate to be dealt for a point guard, with Raymond Felton from Charlotte and Steve Blake from Portland possible options.

Is there any chance Walsh would take Farmar for David Lee? Ronnie's really the only backup big we have.. If we could somehow land a decent backup center(kwame?) for cheap Lee would also make Odom expendable if it came to that..

This leaves us short at PG.. I know this isn't a popular idea but signing Starbury after he's cut wouldn't hurt my feelings.. Say whatever you want about the guy, but he will still give us more the next few years than Ears. Maybe he could even turn his career around with an obvious shot at winning a title?

Starbury/Fish
Mamba/Machine
LO/Ariza/Lee/Puke
Gasoft/Lee/Turiaf/SkiiBoy
AB/Kwame/Turiaf/Glass Ankles

We could then dump Puke, Rad & Mihm for anything any team is willing to give us.. A couple of 2nd round picks or something..

I think that team is pretty hard to beat.. Even if Marbury had a meltdown.. Let sasha play the backup minutes at point.. Trevor is quick enough to play backup 2.. Having Lee get more minutes at the 3 wouldn't be a bad thing.

Thoughts?

If you trade for Farmar for Lee I'm just fine with it since it adds depth at the PF spot and provides a very good player in my book.

As far as a PG it basically secures a Hinrich for Odom deal with a little bit more coming back our way.

It's really not my preferred scenario.

As far as Marbury goes, hell to the no.
