Houston Chronicles:
The Rockets almost had a trade in place. They would of sent a resigned Bob Sura(if he agreed to 20 million for 1 year) Cheick Samb, and a 2nd round pick for Jason Kidd and Jerry Stackhouse. It would of been two trades since Samb was already traded this off season and the Rockets did not trade him within 48 hours. After a few gm's told Crispy he was being raped he backed out of the deal. |

I don't think it would have worked anyways for two reasons...
#1, since the Rockets bought him out, I believe they lost his Bird rights, and if not...
#2, since he would be considered a BYC player with over a 20% salary increase from the previous season _________________ March 21, 1999:

i am not as disappointed now
but Kidd/Ai/Tmac/Landry/Yao with Terry as 6th man is just downright nasty _________________ If interested, PM me!

True, but if a sign-and-trade similar to that worked...he would have been a Cav, and not a Rocket.

Houston Chronicles:
Maurice Evans has signed a two year deal for the BAE to become a Houston Rocket. The second year is a player option. The Rockets are very excited after the signing. They feel he will fit right in with the bench and he is also athletic which is what the team needs. He also plays solid defense when he really focuses on it. |

Houston Chronicles:
The Rockets have completed a trade today. They sent out Loren Woods and received a trade exception. Here is what gm Critter had to say... "Our center position was too crowded before the trade and we wanted to give some time to Samb. We contacted every team that had the salary to trade for Woods but no luck. Then we contacted every team that had a trade x and got lucky to find a trading partner in the Raptors. If no one had traded for Woods, we would have released him. We wish him the best in Toronto." |

I really believe Landry will breakout. He already showed promise this season. And Novak is a deadly shooter. But yea I am working on signing a backup power forward. _________________ If interested, PM me!

Derek Anderson has signed a 1 year for the minimum to play for the Houston Rockets this season. He still showed he has something left in the tank and the Rockets mainly brought him in for his defense. |

Houston Chronicles:
The Houston Rockets have signed both Melvin Ely and Devin Brown to one year deals. These last two signings will fill out the Rockets roster and the Rockets will enter the season as is. Melvin Ely is very underrated and when he gets the minutes he shows what he can do. He will backup Carl Landry. Devin Brown has a both offensive game and a defensive game which is really nice. The Rockets team is stacked with depth and star power so they will be a title contender for sure. |
