Hey all,
Here is my latest Rumors Column:
Rumors: Turiaf Likely a Warrior
http://www.hoopsworld.com/Story.asp?story_id=9514
It doesn’t appear the Lakers will keep Turiaf – and a rushed deal to make it all work is even less likely.
Also the Clippers sign Azubuike to an offer sheet – and waive the rights to Q Ross – who the Lakers should take a seriously look at.
I find it interesting that the Celtics gave on Posey – the guy I really felt was the difference in the NBA Finals – over $7 million 4 years down the road. Doesn’t seem like the right choice.
Finally, I’ll be on Dameshek Denholm and Long (710 ESPN) tomorrow at approximately 4:42pm PST Friday.

Thanks

Another time, another team, perhaps. Not now. I'm just not in favor of adding another wispy defender that gets knocked off the ball easily.
Anyways, thanks for the updates Eric -- always greatly appreciated. _________________

We can use a rangy guard that can stay in front of the speed demons. He's a bit light, but still better than our defensive alternatives at PG. I say nab him if the price is right. _________________ NBA fan critical of the Suns getting Shaq:

| Ross is effective but his 3 point shot has only been good this year. I'm a bit hesitant but also intrigued. |

Ross is a great man defender. But we already have Sasha as our backup SG. I suppose Ross and Karl can fight for that last spot. _________________

| Ross would be a nice pickup for 1 mil. He's a bothersome defender. He knows how to guard the point.. something Fish and especially Farmar are clueless on. |

| ross is a far better defender than given credit - he can spend an entire game guarding an elite pg or elite 2 guard - and can get major minutes slowing down scoring threes |

I highly doubt he'll do better over there than here. _________________

Are we looking at Ross, or do you just believe we should go after him? _________________

i'm in favor of picking up kwame now. he knows the system, and he's a big body who can play d on the kgs of the world, as well as the shaqs.
bynum/kwame/benga
gasol/odom/walton
ariza/odom/radman/walton
kobe/sasha/q. ross (i agree with emplay that he's underrated as a defender)
fish/farmar/sasha
probably keep karl just for giggles, and go to battle with that group. |

It was a pleasure watching Turiaf play with the Lakers but he has his future to secure so I fully understand. I do hope he thrives there and grows as a professional.
On other matters...I would take Brown over Mihm at this point. Mihm is damaged goods and will never regain his form. I do feel Brown will end up elsewhere.
Q-Ross? I would definitely take him. He is a poor man's Michael Cooper. Ross is an able defender that can cover quick point guards or spend time covering the 2. He can hit the mid range shot too. I wouldn't mind having him on the squad. You can never have enough reliable perimeter defenders. _________________ "A champion needs a motivation above and beyond winning..." - Pat Riley |

| Emplay if they aren't matching Turiaf and they know that why not announce it? I understand they have the day to do it but if nothing is going on why wouldn't they just go ahead and announce it and let him go? Is it possible they are still debating on keeping him? |

Ross for the minimum sounds great to me if the guy can defend point guards. _________________
