Kobe, Redd, Arenas...not a bad start to the team.
Quote:
The Free Lance-Star : GILBERT ARENAS SAYS he’s been contacted by USA basketball managing director Jerry Colangelo about becoming a member of the U.S. national team.

The Washington Wizards point guard said he would accept an invitation to join the squad, which will compete at the world championships in Japan this summer and at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.

“I couldn’t keep a smile off my face just to be mentioned,” Arenas told The Free Lance–Star. “Even if they don’t pick me, just to be thought about is a great honor. [Colangelo] asked me for a com mitment, and I have no problem with that.”

Arenas says Colangelo told him a small group of players will be selected in January while the rest of the pool—which is expected to total about 20 players—will be chosen in February.

“I told [Colangelo] like I tell everybody,” Arenas said, “If I’m not playing with you guys in the Olympics, I’m going to be playing basketball on the street anyway.”

nice addition. I see him abusing other people at PG. He's a clone of Wade, if not better.

man3 i dont really like this decision. arenas is a gunner. i figured we'd look for more of a traditional PG. like jkidd if he was up to it...or kirk hinrich for sure...chris paul...all better choices IMO.

Arenas has arrived. I've been trying to tell people for about a year now. Everyone thought I was crazy. This dude is bonfide superstar. Yeah, he guns the rock...he can shoot. But he can also penetrate better than 90% of the league. Is he selfish while getting his 28 a game? Hardly. He can dish the rock to whoever needs it and give it to you in the right position. Best combo guard in the L right now? It's arguable. You might put A.I. there. Maybe Wade. Possibly B. Diddy. Wherever he places, it's elite company. Please respect dude's game. He warrants the propers given to him.

he's going to be lethal for other point guards in the world, he's going to be stronger than the rest of the scrubs. those other guards out there won't know if he's going to shooot or pass the ball. this is great, bron, kobe, arenas, redd, 4 great machines to gun, and just toss in defensive minded machines at pf and c, and we could possibly win gold in 08.

arenas is a good pick. Hes a good shooter with tremendous range. Plus he can get to the hoop anytime he wishes.

yup, makes sense. Damn this back-court can already do more than just some damage.

They better come with a traditional PG or else it won't make a difference. The team doesn't need JUST superstars, it needs a mix of superstars and role players. I wouldn't invite Iverson back.

Kidd and Billups at PG is enough. Brand and J. O'Neal, Kobe, Bron, Redd, Ray and RIP: Shooters and slashers and scorers. KG, Amare, and Frye as the Bigs. A good mix.

Uh no....This team may be good but, original team will never be topped...Especially since there won't be Duncan or Shaq on the team.
