If any of you remember, back in the 04-05 sesaon, Walton made a similiar mistake in the clutch against the Knicks where kobe gave walton the ball and he passed it back to kobe eventhough kobe was trapped and couldn't get a shot up. What is Walton doing. All he had to do was catch and shoot an open three.

I don't get it either.

For a player that's regarded as having "high basketball IQ" he makes too many mistakes in the clutch.

How do you not know the clock there?

I expected it though. I almost wanted Kobe to take that three doubled instead of giving it to Luke because I knew he would screw it up.

Lamar or someone should have been cutting cross court to get an open shot. Lamar, Fisher, and Odom were all crowded on one side.

Walton also got us a clutch steal against Lebron.

But still Luke is a bum, he needs to be playing alot better than he has. You'd think he'd be a little better with all that complaining his dad does about Kobe.

It's exactly what Phil said after the Seattle game, guys out there are a little shy, or was it gun shy. Either way, nobody wants the responsibility of taking the last shot, that's why Kobe takes them, he's not afraid to fail. Fish would take it, Farmar would take it, hell Sasha would take it, but Luke got scared and saw his security blanket Kobe and passed it back, just like in NY. I'm surprised Kobe didn't yell 'SHOOT THE F'ING BALL" at him again, I would have.

he shouldnt have been out there no knock on luke but the man's confidence is at a all time low. but phil has faith in him and i have faith in phil so hopefully luke will shake this off

Thats Luke "High BBall IQ" Walton.
He knew that he couldnt make the shot, no matter if he´s open or not, so he passed it to Kobe. man10

luke was afraid to take the last shot of the game you can tell when kobe passed it to him then he passed it back to kobe then next thing you know we didnt even get the freaking shot off in time to go for a tie

i wish sasha touched that ball b/c u know he would fire without hesitation + fast release.

this team-ball thing is not working with these guys (we're really really short handed and these guys are not stepping up)

I don't know what to say about Walton or this game. It almost seems like someone wants Lakers/Cavs games to be decided in the final minute of the game. This is the either the third or fourth game in a row we lost to the Cavs in the final minute.

Phil has made some dumb decisions..but having a dumb team doesnt help either...

Luke has no business in the NBA, let alone starting for an NBA team.

That was the ultimate act of basketball cowardice there.

Good overall game by Luke...but sadly its going to be skewed now cause of that last play.

That whole play was designed for Kobe to take it. When Kobe passed it to Luke, I think the Cavs actually played it real well. It wasn't a very good look from deep, even if he took it.

Still, it should have been taken.

Any shot taken is better than no shot being taken.

I wonder what Kobe was thinking after Walton passed the ball back to him. B/c they showed Kobe after the final buzzer. And he was just walking. But I bet inside he was just going all out.

Of course he is hesitant to take the last shot. He's been in the NBA for over 4 years and he's probably had the ball in his hands during the last seconds about zero times! Look, if you want to point fingers point them at our 6'11 13 million dollar finesse 2 guard. If he had half the heart a guy like Turiaf has he'd be a 25, 12, 5 guy (no pun intended). Walton should be no more than a 4th or 5th option and is a tremendous role player.

halekulani and KB24@CL you have a point.

If Phil wasn't so in love with Luke on the floor, we could have at least played Sasha around that point.

Sasha actually had played a good game and was knocking down shots.

I don't understand what Luke could even bring to the team with 9 seconds left anyway. That's not enough time to actually run the offense, where Luke supposedly is at his most effective.

I just re-watched the last play. No excuse for Luke not to be ready to catch and shoot, but I don't know why Kobe didn't pass it to Fish who was also open.
