JO comes in, Bynum must stay…

With heated talks to the 7-time all-star Jermaine O’neal coming to Los Angeles, there’s no telling who the Lakers are willing to give up. The Indiana Pacers are hoping to land both Lamar Odom AND Andrew Bynum, whom, the Buss’s and Mitch Kupchak feel is the cornerstone of the future Laker’s franchise. I have to agree.

Andrew Bynum is only 19 years old, and growing at a tremendous rate to become one of the most talented centers of the future generation. Being taught by the Captain himself, Bynum holds plenty of potential with his frame and size, he could be one of the Centers the Lakers have depended on over the years. Mikan, Wilt, Kareem, Shaq. In NBA today, there are not many TRUE centers as there was say, 15 years ago. 15 Years ago, there was Hakeem, Ewing, Shaq, Robinson, and others that were basically the riding horse of each team. Today, we see more of a trend of wannabe “STARS” of a team, LeBron, Kobe, Wade, Arenas. What effect has that held? The only teams I see winning championships are those with great centers at the top, Duncan, Ben Wallace. Bynum holds that key for the next couple of years. Lakers fans are too impatient with this kid, and are blind from Kobe’s influence. This is similar to the SF Giants, Bonds is doing all these amazing feats, but where are the championships? Not saying Kobe is a bad influence, but rather, impatient. Sorry. It’s the truth.

But in order for the LAKERS franchise to have any luck, Bynum has to stay. And if the Jermaine O’neal trade goes through with Bynum leaving, it will be one to regret. JO will bring 2 years max with Kobe, and then the future of the Lakers is ruined. For any chance of this trade to be done, it has to be without Bynum.
