Bryant Becomes Part Of NBA History Scoring 81 Points

Postby Darshan on Tue Jan 24, 2006 11:18 am

I still cant believe kobe scored 81. Very amazing in todays NBA. Ive already read the jordan-kobe comparisons after this, and how some people believe this cements kobes status as "better" than MJ. I dont necessarily know about better...because its not like MJ COULDNT score 81 if he wanted to...just like im sure kobe could score 100 if he wanted to. The point is...just to put rest to all the jordan-bryant hoopla is this:

Kobe is DEFINETELY at the same level as Jordan skillwise...give or take a few minor things. But unfortunately...until kobe wins some rings "by himself" he'll still be heir to air...even if he scores 200 pts a game. Thats just my opinion...im sure ill get shat on by everyone but its ok. Im not hating or anything. Im not DENYING Kobe's skills.

Either way...81 points...the guy should have just played by himself...he would have probably still kept up with the other team. I think kobe will avg 40ppg at least one season in his career.

I hope someone was smart enough to keep track of the game ball. They have to put that in the Basketball Hall Of Fame in Springfield, MA.

They lost the ball with Wilt scoring 100 points.

It's interesting to see HOW bad that Knicks team was when Wilt dropped 100. People have the misconception that Wilt Frazier was on that squad. That is not true. The Knicks that year were 29-51. The Raps have a better record than that Knicks team. Frazier wasn't drafted until 67.

Im currently watching the 62 pt game ( converting it to DVd) and kobe could have really broken wilts 100.

There was NO defense... and no head coach on the other team. it was a huge blowout, but so was wilts 100 game.

Kobe will top 70 again...

Bank it.

Ha, I just read through this entire thread. Great seeing how excited everyone was and the historical context of his amazing performance.
