Kobe's 81 or MJ's 63 in the Garden?

Postby nameant on Tue Jan 24, 2006 12:27 am

first off, mods if you guys wanna lock this b/c you feel there are too many Kobe 81 point threads, have at it.

anyway on the best damn sports show tonight they brought up this question.

Which was more impressive, Kobe's 81 or Jordan's 63 in the playoffs against the Celtics in the Garden?

obviously Salley picked Kobe, hell Jordan is my favorite player and I pick Kobe's performance. Salley's reason was simple, "BECAUSE IT WAS 81!" Chris Rose, Dibble and Peete all picked Jordan's performance. as if that wasnt enough, they insisted on "mocking" Kobe's 81. saying "Jordan's b/c it was against an NBA team." Dibble said at the end of the game, that the Raptors literally moved out of the way to let Kobe score. I know, BS. :nono2: their biggest reason for picking Jordan's performance was b/c it was on the road in the playoffs. but let's not forget, the Bulls lost. they never mentioned that. what do you guys think?

Not even worth debating.

At this point, Jordan is obviously the better player but Kobe had a far better game. Period.

I pick Jordan's 63. I saw that game and that was against the Celtics, who had an insane squad back in '86. Also, it was the playoffs and it was in the hostile boston garden, which was the worst road arena to play in ever.

Definitely Kobe's.
He scored 81 points in single game, that's simply amazing achievement...
60 till 65-point barrier is rare thing, but sometimes reachable, but 81-point in modern era...
WOW!

Jordans game was absolutely amazing. He was injured and came back to drop 63 in the garden? WTF, He BURNED them.
Kobe´s game will be REMEMBERED BY EVERYBODY while MJ´s game is not exactly known by the fans around the world. All in all Kobe´s game is MORE impressive but MJ´s game is more important. Gotta credit MJ for his performence

Kobe's performance by far! The Bulls lost that game! ...it was a great show by Jordan...playoffs, vs. the mighty Celtics and etc. ...but it's always about the W!

Jordan's 69 was obtained in overtime; Kobe's 81 regulation.
How many Jordan's fans will finally admit it that if Kobe is immitating Jordan's selfish plays in his early career that he'd break and create new records easily?

The 81 may be the last we'd see. This is a journey where Kobe really wants people to recognize him as Kobe, and not be compared to Jordan. However, Kobe will just have to accept the fact that he'd always be compared to Jordan, eventhough in some areas he's already Jordan equal and in some already better than Jordan.

^ It's between Kobe's 81 and Jordan's 63 in the Garden in the Playoffs. not Jordan's 69. :man12:
