Scottie Pippen.."Tmac could do it too"

Postby scarface223 on Wed Jan 25, 2006 1:44 am

I found it very surprising that Scottie felt that Tracy McGrady could score 81 points if given the oppurtunity. He then said if TMac played in Jordan's era, he could put up better if not equal numbers to MJ!! Maybe Scottie see's a bit of himself in Tmac, and I know how much he praised Kobe the other night, but I'm not sure I agree. I like Tmac and all, but what Kobe did...I guess maybe Mac comes the closest, but I don't see it.

Belongs in the Kobe's 81 (points) forum. I think he could too. McGrady and Bryant are the two best offensive players in the league. James, Iverson, Allen and Wade, while good guards, aren't nearly as lethal from the perimeter... actually, Wade doesn't have any perimeter game.

i dont think he said that. he was comparing the rules now..saying it's easier to score points than it was back when MJ was in his prime. he was saying he thought TMac as well as Kobe and Dirk could all put up "MJ numbers" now b/c the rules nowadays. that is...if you are referring to this:

Yeah, you're right. Scottie did say that. Honestly, after reading that blog on nba.com, I felt Scottie's article was more than detriminal to Kobe. He seemed to be agnry at Kobe for some reason. He was questioning his leadership, saying that Kobe had taken a step backwards. He also seemed to be unimpressed by Kobe's 81, and also seemed to be trying to make excuses and reasons to lessen Kobe's performance. Scottie seemed really strange, like he really doesn't like Kobe at all. What does he want Kobe to do?

^ i think it was more about Scottie protecting MJ. there's been a lot of talk about how Kobe's 81 was far more than Jordan's 69. people make it a point to say that. i really dont know what was up with a lot of those comments. playing alongside Jordan, he had experienced games similar to this. maybe he was just in a bad mood.

MJ protection of course, but as you said, where did some of those comments come from?

T-Mac already said he was tired after shooting 30+ shots in a game.

No!

Pippen was all positive about Kobe when interviewed on Cold Pizza on ESPN the morning after the game. Now he went and did a 360 with his opinion. Either somebody is ghostwriting his blog or Jordan gave him a call after that cold pizza interview. :man10:

Maybe Pip means that Tmac has the athletic ability to do it. (At least I hope that's what he meant)

Tmac himself has admitted that he'd get tired after 30 shots, much less 46.

Yeah... T-Mac could do it too but his team would probably lose. T-Mac wouldn't even have enough energy to play defense.

woulda, coulda, shoulda...

Look, until someone puts up the numbers, just shut the hell up. T-Mac can probably do it, Lebron can probably do it, and yada yada can probably do it, but until they do it, just give Kobe his props because he DID it. Done. Finished.

Pippen is an ignorant bastard. Hes downplaying what kobe did. Throwing in names and suggesting that maybe this person or that person can do it is ludacris. THis is 81 points!!!! Its not 50 or 60. Its 81!! Thats 19 points more than T-Macs career high. when its all said and done t-mac won't even be in the top 30 of all-time cuz he hasn't taken his game to that next level of elite status where kobe has just entered. the only person i think might be able to score anything close to 80 right now is AI if given a whole lot of shots. no one else. i also think kobes gonna do it again. if he played that 4th quarter against dallas he would have had 2 80 point games under his belt at the age of 27. now that ppl, is impressive....

lol @ anyone claiming McGrady can do anything as good as Kobe. Guy can't even sustain an entire season without ovarian spasms.

Of course Tracy could have scored 81 when he had that 62 pt game.....

If he didn't miss 9 ft's and 10 of his last 11 shots.

Still I don't care. Tracy is class, it's not like he is saying any of this. He respects Kobe.
