Los Angeles Lakers (18-10)
vs.
Utah Jazz (16-14)

Los Angeles

Keys to Success
1. Slow Down Deron
2. Big Game Bigs
3. 100 is the key

Slow Down Deron - Deron Williams is one of the best PGs in the NBA. He attacks fearlessly, makes great passes, and can knock down the three if he is left alone. LA does not do a good job making him work for his shots. That has to change. Deron is not like Steve Nash. Deron thrives when you take your offensive game to him. Nash spends too much energy and tires more quickly than Deron in those situations.

Big Game Bigs - Odom and Bynum are averaging 15/10 each of late. The are going to have to be aggressive to offset the work of Carlos Boozer, who is playing the best basketball of any big outside Dwight Howard this season.

100 is the Key - The Lakers' record when they hold their opponents below 100 points is 12-2. In games opponents score 100+, that slips to 6-8. The Jazz average 104 points per game, meaning LA is going to have to do much better than yielding the 120 points they did last time they faced Utah.

Prediction
Lakers 97
Jazz 96

4. Guard the three point line and handle the pick N roll.

Deron will use the pick a lot to throw the ball out to Okur for the three. Ariza or Odom will be guarding Okur which means Bynum has to stay out of foul trouble against Boozer.

The Jazz aren't a great three point shooting team, but you absolutely can't let some of them open at the three point line. If Okur is back and has his touch, he adds to the problems. I totally agree.
