The Los Angeles Lakers are riding a 9-game win streak since Pau Gasol has returned to the starting line-up. The Lakers 5-star players were given the signature nickname The "Ko P. LA-Ron Dynasty" by the National Basketball & Hip-Hop Culture Month Foundation www.NBHHCM.org (NBHHCM) this past October 30, 2009.

The "Ko P. LA-Ron Dynasty" signature nickname comes from the first name of all 5-star players Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, Lamar Odom, Andrew Bynum, and Ron Artest. The breakdown of the nickname is Ko-Kobe, P.-Pau, L-Lamar, A-Andrew, and Ron-Ron. The signature nickname has recieved positive reaction by Laker fans on the internet.

Pau Gasol played his first game of the season November 15th when the Lakers hosted the Detroit Pistons. All of the team wins except one have been by double-digits http://www.nba.com/lakers/schedule/. The Lakers were pushed to the brink of defeat by the Miami Heat this past Friday. Kobe Bryant with time running out hit a miraculous 3-point shot to give LA a 108-107 victory.

There was a buzz at the beginning of the season that this team could contend for a 70+ win season and challenge the 72-10 Chicago Bulls record from their Championship run of 1995-96. They have a 16-3 record that is the best in the league. This team will get better the more they play together. This Laker team is tougher on the defensive end than last year's NBA Champions, and that can be contributed to the addition of Ron Artest who is a former Defensive-Player-of -the-Year (2004).

The Lakers have benefited from a favorable home-schedule that has allowed them to achieve a good record to start the season. Now that they are becoming more and more comfortable when they go on the road for 4, 5, or 6 games they will be able to beat most teams and contend for the best record in the league.

Charles Barkley the TNT Analyst and Hall-of-Famer has said that "there is no team in the NBA right now that will beat the Lakers 4 out of 7 games". The NBA is an 82-game regular season plus playoffs marathon. Time will tell if this is truly the start of The "Ko P. LA-Ron Dynasty."
