Gary Payton spoke at some length with Phil Jackson on Friday afternoon, continued his near-daily dialogue with Shaquille O'Neal, and perhaps moved closer to joining Karl Malone in Los Angeles with the Lakers.

As a result of Malone's choosing championship possibilities over financial gain, the Lakers are expected to negotiate through the weekend with Payton and his representative, Aaron Goodwin.

I am usually careful with all the infos coming during the trade time. Teams and player are playing chess & poker and you can not really trust what the friend of a friend of relative of Gary has said...

BUT GUYS, GP AND MALONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOULDN'T THAT BE THE LAKERS DREAM TEAM NEXT SEASON??????

GP was on the BDSSP tonight and he was saying all the politically correct things about keeping his options open. Money is going to be the only problem that we are gonna have with GP. I would have thought with his Nike endorsements and years in Seattle and this past with Milwaukee that he could have saved some dough.

we are so close and I see one problem. If GP doesn't accept the Lakers' offer, what about Malone. As far as I have understood Malone is ok to accept less money to allow the Lakers to get GP. But if one part of the deal is not ok then we could lose both :man6:

This team will be unstoppable. Also, if those two sign with the Lakers
