Antawn Jamison Discussion: Cockroach

I don't know how this can be considered a bad move. Kapono was a bad move. Murphy was a bad move. Jamison will flourish in his role off the bench. If you leave him open, he's knocking down those shots all day long. He's a threat from three; meaning, more space in the paint for Andrew & Pau.

Most games come down to the wire in the playoffs. There are hardly any blowout wins.

Just look at the 09 Finals. We blew out the Magic in Game 1 but Games 2-4 were all really close and people kept saying the Magic should have been up 3-1. So, you agree we were "close"? That was all I was arguing, the logic behind saying the series hadn't been close.

And it does mean something. You know why? Because the reason we lost, and you said it repeatedly in the Gameday thread, is because we choked. What did that choking consist of? Turning the ball over at critical times and not being able to come up with good looks. Now, who did we get this off-season? Steve Nash. That was huge, especially for clutch situations. I don't see us not being able to get a good look or turning the ball over with Steve Nash running the point.

No, he is currently in Italy.

Changed the title to show he's agreed but hasn't physically signed the contract yet.

This is the definition of a low risk high reward signing.. Jamison & Nash were exactly what we were missing..There are still holes to fill but I don't think there's any doubt Mitch will figure it out

Quite frankly, I couldn't stand him. For the money we paid, it may have not been a bad move. He didn't look like the same player he was in Indiana. Maybe I was expecting too much.

However, as soon as Jordan Hil came in and we seen what a real backup big was supposed to do, we didn't see Murphy at all...

He was better than he was in Boston, and he shot the ball very well. Just couldn't defend a lick. Zero mobility.

He was brought in to space the floor for Bynum and Gasol. Honestly he did that. For a minimum contract, he gave about what you'd expect. It just wasn't much and it wasn't enough. Jamison is a HUGE steal for the minimum. Absolutely insane that he'll sign with us for it.

Murphy's problem was his complete reluctance to shoot the 3. He shot 40+% but who cares when you're barely attempting any at all when that was what you were brought in to do.

but he was on and off like light switch. one game he'd be hitting 2-3 shots, the next the shots look like straight up bricks.

murphy and mcroberts were both major dissapointments. hopefully jamison doesn't fall in the same boat, but i doubt he will. he's still got game

Actually Jamison could have signed his contract via an ipad like Deron Williams did.

The "not being able to sign because he's in Italy" is bogus..... you can execute international trade contracts legally via FAX if it's done right.....or any other contract for that matter. I've done similar contractual executions farther away that Italy....

If he hasn't signed yet it's for other reasons... He may have agreed but is waiting to hammer out details after after other potential roster moves are completed (Howard or Pau trades for example)....

^^^Makes sense. The most we probably have is a verbal commitment from him. A little nugget I found out the we're only paying Antawn 850K while the league is kicking in the rest of his salary due to a clause in the CBA regarding younger players and veterans...I have to find it. I will post it up as soon as I find it...
