Antawn Jamison Discussion: Cockroach

I fully expect Jamison to be a huge part of our rotation by the time playoffs roll around.

thats the entire problem right there and Tawn is right. We don't have an identity as a team, our bench doesn't have an identity, our coach is dumb, etc...players are confused and they get benched for one bad performance. Now they are hesitant, afraid to make mistakes etc...thats just crazy.

How can the Lakers get one inept coach after another?

MDA is tinkering to try and recreate the 2006 Suns with parts that don't match..... Benching someone like Jamison for Ebanks doesn't make sense on any level.

but this really pisses the hell out of me. they brought him in to help the horrendous bench they've had for a few years and now idiot dan tony isn't even playing him and instead plays ebanks who flat out sucks. ok maybe tawn's defense isn't the best but it's not like anyone is actually playing D anyways. i really thought dan tony had it figured out when he played jamison at the 4 for a few games but then he went back to the mike brown ways and benched him. i hated the dan tony hiring from day 1 but with each MORONIC decision he makes it just makes my blood boil more and more thinking about how he's the head coach and not phil.

D'Antoni will give up on Ebanks eventually since Ebanks is never consistent despite his potential. I won't be surprised if Antwan gets some time back at the 3 again, only with the starters instead.

Same problem over again. No set bench rotation, and that is what is hurting the team. Players can't be looking their shoulders all the time thinking "Am I going to get playing time?"

Agreed, but I was speaking mostly in terms of role players. Antawn isn't going to be taking minutes from D12, Kobe, or Pau.

I think what'll happen soon is Jamison as the de facto 3 even though he'll be listed as the 4. Instead of seeing Morris(Duhon)/Meeks/Ebanks/Artest/Howard you'll see Morris(Duhon)/Meeks/Jamison/Artest/Howard because even despite Jamison's flaws he'll provide SOMETHING and Ebanks doesn't do that regularly.

I think we should START Antawn and move Kobe back to SG next to Nash. That way, we still preserve Hill, MWP, Meeks and Duhon/Morris/Blake off the bench, and we can at least get proper value for Jamison. He can get wide open looks starting with our fantastic four, and I know he can score more than Darius Morris can in the starting line-up.

We are totally WASTING Antawn with these DNP games. He sacrificed to come here, when he could still be getting 5+ mil as a starting/6th man for some other teams, so we OWE it to him to find him a role. He is a defensive liability, but he has already proven to be a pretty good rebounder, passer and scorer...his skills would be maximized with the starters.

Metta could swap in to back him up at the 3, and Kobe could also cover the 3 sometimes when Metta is at the 4. Jordan Hill can swap with Metta at the 4 when Jamison is not on the court, and Hill and Pau can swap at the 5 behind Howard. Antawn needs to PLAY. He's a rythm guy, so if he is in a rythm and confident, he is a MUCH better player.

weve tried ebanks starting and morris so why not jamison...obviously defense is a problem but i still think he deserves a chance to start and show what he can do.

obviously not against teams with star sf's but i think he should get the start one game and see what happens. cant be worse than the 5 mins ebanks brought us when he started

I just don't see a fit for Jamison with this roster. If we need scoring from the 4 we play Pau.. If we need intangibles & toughness we play Hill. Both much better rebounders than Tawn. If we need to go with a quick lineup we go with Ron. Better 3 point shooter & actually plays D, slight downgrade on rebounding but nothing the team doesn't make up. Jamison is absolutely terrible at the 3. He doesn't make sense with the starters because all he can do is score, & he's the 4th/5th option with the startrts.. He doesn't make sense with the bench because we need Hill's toughness at the 4 more than Jamison's scoring, & we can't have his slowness at the 3. Would be great if we end up trading him instead of Hill. Both guys are great values.

completely agree with this

instead of garbage ebanks starting at the 2, start jamison at the 3 so kobe can play his natural position. jamison is just rotting away on the bench and i dont understand why dan tony is playing ebanks over him. this guy can still contribute as we've seen this season! it really annoys me to see him not getting any playing time when he can still bring something to the table. he NEEDS to play

Something needs to be done. He can produce and should get at least 15 minutes.

I just can't see this guy never playing for us again, rotting on the bench. There has to be a spot for him, and if there's not we should move him so he doesn't end his career a spectator, not what he signed up for.

Yeah he's got to get in there some where. Just no room with Ron playing some 4 and Hill getting minutes now.

He's proly just a practice player now, kinda like the Josh Powell role.

There's minutes for him and those minutes are located where Kobe Bryant is playing too many minutes. Put Jamison at the 3 and MWP at the 4 and have them cross match on defense.

There's 6-7 minutes a night for him right there.

vet min, gave us production when he got the minutes, wasn't terrible on defense.
I would really like to see him getting minutes out there, he can put up points for us & stretch the floor.

I really want to see what he can do with Nash out there, hopefully he finds a way on the floor soon.

maybe hell play tomorrow since its a back to back. probably not though.

I thought he looked good when we finally made a coaching change. But he went from looking like a 6th man of the year candidate to a complete irrelevant piece. I just don't see how that happens over night.

If MDA would just start Ron at the 3 (who is spacing the floor well) we could give Jamison the back up 4 mins and Hill the backup 5.

I hope he'll get it right soon
