If he hasn't signed yet it's for other reasons... He may have agreed but is waiting to hammer out details after after other potential roster moves are completed (Howard or Pau trades for example)....

I watch NBC sports talk and they said he won't be doing business on his vacation with his family. Yeah he can sign it overseas by fax or iPad but they guy is on a break, as in this is family time. When he gets back it will be business time. I can respect that. They got a verbal commitment and everything but at the end of the day he just wants to spend time that he feels he need with his kids

Lakers Sign Antawn Jamison

Image

Veteran forward Antawn Jamison will sign a one-year deal for the veteran's minimum with the Los Angeles Lakers, according to a league source.

Jamison, 36, averaged 17.2 points and 6.3 rebounds last year for Cleveland in his 14th season in the league, but he shot a career-low 40.3 percent from the field.

He was acquired by the Cavaliers via trade in 2009-10, the last season Lakers coach Mike Brown was at the helm for the Cavs.

The Lakers were in competition with several other teams for Jamison's services, including Brooklyn, Golden State and Charlotte.

That article didn't reveal anything new. It didn't say he's officially signed. But it doesn't matter. A verbal agreement and signing is pretty much interchangeable. And it doesn't necessarily have to do with him being in Italy or us wanting to make other moves first.

Jamison had a 2-yr,$8 m offer to play for his hometown CHA. But agent Makhtar N'Diaye's reminder about will to win pushed AJ to choose LAL.

Not to mention CHA is his hometown too.

Glad to have you Jamison!

PG Nash / Blake
SG Bryant
SF World Peace / ? / Ebanks
PF Gasol / Jamison
C Bynum

I think at this point the Lakers should fill out the rest of the roster with defensive-minded players and a couple guys that can also knock down the three for the wing spots.

Kelly Dwyer actually wrote a decent article for once but then reminds us that he's ... well ... Kelly Dwyer with this last line.

Signing the modern-day equivalent of James Worthy, even if he is in the winter of his career, will do that to a team's fortunes.

All I really want is a combo guard and an insurance-type center and I think we'd be gravy. Maybe another small forward, but I don't think it would be end of the world if we didn't and only addressed the first two positions I mentioned.

Ugh... what?

How do these guys get paid money to talk about sports? It's unreal. I've always told my friends that I'd looooove to get my hands on Skip on 1st and 10. I'd chew him apart.

Yep, in my opinion a sign and trade with Jordan Hill going to the Warriors (because they are also interested in him) while we get back Brandon Rush. Both teams are happy and we then sign JO for the vets min.

I can understand why he chose us over the other teams. Must be frustrating as an NBA veteran to be in a situation in Cleveland.

It's why I've really stopped caring what sports writers think. 99% of them are absolutely clueless.

I'm stoked we got Jamison, but has he ever posted 36/16/10 in a Finals Game 7 before?
