Why would he have to be crazy? He's near the end of his career and wants a ring.

It just seems that he should be able to get more money with those numbers. I guess we can point to karl malone to support why jamison could take less for a chance at a ring, but I feel like guys will go for the money even more now with the new more restrictive CBA.

Marc J. Spears ‏@SpearsNBAYahoo
Cavs have had talks on possible sign&trade sending Antawn Jamison to Nets, sources tell Y! Lakers can only offer minimum. GS & CHA in mix too

Nets would be a solid team next season if that happened.....

Who did we use the mini-MLE on? :man3:

LOL if they pay Jamison more than the full MLE, it'll be Deron + a bunch of overpaid, overrated "good but not great" talent. D-Will + Joe/G-Wall/Lopez and now Jamison. If that happens Joe Johnson basically got traded from the Hawks to the Hawks.

It's the East, it will get them the 3rd-5th seed. All they have to do is go .500. :man10:

Yeah, LOL at Marc Stein saying Lakers only have minimum. We haven't used Mini MLE yet. Idiot.

We need to work our magic and trade McRoberts for Jamison in a sign and trade. Then we can use mini MLE for someone else, and sign G Hill to the Vet's Minimum.

McRoberts is an expiring contract. I’d rather send out Blake’s 2 years $8 million for Jamison. The Cav’s could cut Gibson (only guaranteed $2.5 million).

Why would Cleveland want BLAKE's 8M over 2 yrs when they can get an EXPIRING in McRoberts who can also be a nice back up PF for them and flourish alongside Irving's playmaking?

Of course I'd LOVE to send Blake packing and get a player like Jamison in return...but that just won't happen. And we have no 1st rounders to give out either to make them EAT blake's contract. We're better off waiting until next year when Blake has only 1 year left.

Big mistake by not using the mini-MLE. I highly doubt we'll be able to gather the talent needed for our bench by just using the veterans minimum.

^ Maybe Grant Hill and/or Delonte West, but it'd be stupid to not use the mini MLE. We used it last year on McScrub.

Anderson Varejao. Tristan Thompson. Omri Casspi. Kris Humphris? Tyler Zeller. Samardo Samuels.

I don’t see any minutes for McRoberts.

I can see Grant Hill taking the minimum, but West might be looking for a bit more considering he took the veteran the previous two seasons.

Thank you.

Mike Bresnahan wrote:After allocating about $27 million (over the next three years) to Nash in a trade with Phoenix last week, the Lakers are increasingly reluctant to use the "mini" mid-level exception, their only free-agent tool. It tops out at $3.1 million next season, but the Lakers are hoping to sign free agents to fill out their bench by using only the veteran's-minimum contract, which tops out at $1.35 million next season.

We could very well end up being a very top heavy team, we're really a bench away from winning a championship.

We could still get a decent bench without using the mini MLE.

Resign Ramon Sessions and Jordan Hill.

Sign Grant Hill to vets minimum.

Sign and trade McRoberts to Cleveland for Jamison.

Our bench: Sessions/Goudelock/G.Hill/Jamison/J.Hill

Not bad.

We really need Jamison now that Shard is off the market.. Already missed out on Dorell Wright.. Not using the MLE - no CJ Watson.. Our spacing is going to be TERRIBLE..

Shard wasn't really someone most of us really wanted. He had a terrible shooting year this past season, but I agree that without the use of the mini-MLE our options are a lot thinner.

Spacing doesn't HAVE to be terrible IMO just because you don't have elite shooters on the floor. We have a dribble penetrator now in Nash. That will cause the defense to collapse.

You can still have spacing without shooters. (Obviously, having shooters allows you to take better advantage of space).

Can you still shoot a gun without a bullet? (Obviously, having bullets allows you to take better advantage of shooting a gun).
