Any Chance We Get Andrew Bynum Back?

Any Chance We Get Andrew Bynum Back?

Postby King of Clutch on Fri Jul 05, 2013 2:40 pm

It's my understanding that Andrew Bynum is on the market. My question is if Dwight decides to leave, is there any chance that Andrew Bynum comes to LA? If the lakers organization, kobe, and phil were to talk to him? In my honest opinion, after seeing Bynum play for us last year, and seeing Dwight this year, I honestly think Bynum is the superior Player.

Offensively, Dwight gets his points in PnRs and by crashing the glass. It put the burden on kobe and nash to spoon feed him. If you don't have the proper system in place for dwight to flourish, his significance diminishes. Bynum on the other hand is a guy that could be dumped the ball in the low post 15 to 20 times, and could actually deliver. Regardless of what system is in place and who he's playing with. Defensively Dwight is on another level, but he showed flashes of evolving into a defensive monster with his triple double with blocks vs denver last year in playoffs. Also, I always thought his passion was greater than Dwight's. He has that swagger that kobe, and shaq had. The one that if healthy, he would rip your heart out and dominate you. A swagger that wants greatness, and wants to prove that he's the best. If healthy I honestly think he can average 25 points and 14 rebounds. But that's the problem, health.

But regardless, if Dwight walks I think Bynum would be an amazing choice to bring back anyway. It's a high risk, but also a high reward if he gets healthy. I would definitely want Bynum back. And due to Bynum playing his whole career here (never did play in Philly) I would like to think he'd like to be back home in LA as well. What do you guys think? Would you like to see him make a return to LA?

IF healthy? That's the biggest "if" in the NBA outside of Greg Oden. You want to bring Bynum back on a one year minimum deal to sit the year on our bench, good luck with that. That's all we have to offer him by the way, the mini-MLE or the minimum, even with his knees I doubt he takes that or that another team doesn't take this foolish risk for more, maybe 10 million even.

If dwight walks, i'm pretty sure we can offer bynum more than the mini MLE.

No, we get zero money to offer if Dwight walks. Where have you been the past few weeks, or months even, you didn't know this? We're so far over the cap because of Kobe, Pau and Nash, that even if Dwight walks it frees up ZERO money to offer more than mini-MLE or minimum deals. That's the whole reason people wanted to trade Dwight at the deadline, or want to trade him to GS right now, because if he just walks, we get NOTHING. All that said, I see zero chance Bynum comes back here, that we want him, that he wants us, that we could afford him anyway, broken as he is.

Kwame Brown signed a 7 million dollar deal two years ago...No Way a young talented big, injuries or no, is going to cost ANY less than double digit mil in this big starved league. 10-12 million, guaranteed. Bigs are historically expensive.
The End is nigh. Time for a total Cut and Shuffle. Kobe contract was a mistake...time to avoid making more. The future is here, whether we want it to be or not. An era is over, but for the death rattle, and it's time for the cycle to begin anew. Growth and change are scary and painful, but alas...nothing worth achieving comes easily.

3 things have to happen

1) Bynum has to want to come back here.

2) We have to amnesty MWP. Otherwise a S&T can't get "under the apron".

3) Bynum has to come here in a S&T involving Pau and another team who wants Pau and has the capspace to acquire him. 76ers and other team must agree.

If this trade does happen, does this really put us in a position to compete for a championship? I'm not too sure. All 3 of our theoretical core players (Bynum, Kobe, and Nash) are coming off injuries. If we win a championship next season, we'll be a late bloomer. Too many whatifs IMO.

I believe Bynum is an unrestricted free agent, he can sign wherever he wants for whatever he wants.

Bynum sucks hasn't even played in a year. Dude was already sucking wind by the second quarter and having lube jobs on his knee when he should have been in shape.

No thanks, he's a head case to top it off.

Bynum wouldn't come back here for the max.... 90% of the reasons he said most of those things are still here in his mind.

Not sure I'd want him back even for a reduced amount with protections. We need to re-build from scratch and even if he's healthy for a couple season the odds of him being here the next time we're close are not good.

Interesting..... everyone last year said Bynum was an Idiot.... and that we should get Howard even if it meant giving up Pau as well.... How's that working for ya this summer?

Working out fine. I'm excited to watch Pau, Nash, Kobe go to work this years. Tired of watching bricked free throws. Lakers need to sign defensive/3pt specialists.

Sad thing is, Howard makes Bynum look like a genius in regards to being a Laker.

Mini MLE?
There are two teams that play in the Staples Center:
the LA Lakers and NBA Clippers.

With what??? We only have minimum money to spend. We can't even use the mini MLE because it would eat into our 2014 plan (due to a requirement of multiple seasons). Most of the good free agents have agreed to sign elsewhere, and there is going to be an MLE/Mini MLE rush on the remains. We're looking at Earl Watson, Sasha Vujacic, Daruis Morris additions only...

We have no other options at this point, and when we get spurned by the only legit worthwhile player in FA next season (no way LeBron comes here, especially with Kobe here) then we will be without draft picks (thx Steve Nash) and without any worthwhile coach or players to attract any quality players...we're honestly staring down the barrel of a 5-10 year playoff drought here people...

Hell No. Rather play Pau, Hill and Bobsac at C for a year then give Bynum another season in a Laker uniform again.
Best coaching decision of Phil's career: Going with Pau/Odom and NOT letting Bynum see the floor the last 20 minutes of game 7 v Boston.
