Asst Coaching Staff changes coming?

I for one am curious as to who coach will retain from the existing assistants. I know coach already said Bernie is in and Dan D'Antonio is in as well but does a guy like Jordan who is a princeton guy through and through stand a chance?

I think Clifford, Person and Ham can transition well and have their niches which are still applicable, but not too sure about Jordan. Also I take it the lack of word on Nate McMillan means nothing is happening there.

Chuck Person is staying, unless he had a sexcapade with Mrs. D'Antoni. He's been around since the Phil days, and Lakers brass thinks highly of him.

Who's Ham? I would love for us to add Nate McMillan as a D coordinator, though that might be "too much" coaching experience on one bench.

Darvin Ham, former forward of the Detroit Pistons (and other teams). Has been an assistant coach of the LA Lakers since last season.

they should keep bernie and person. the other guys like jordan, clifford, and ham should be let go. what's the point of them staying if dan dan tony is also joining the team

I'd love to see Rambis in for Defensive coaching, but given his relationship with Phil it's unlikely.

^^ Yeah, I don't think this is going to happen. Would've with Phil, but not now.

I hope they keep Bernie and Persons. I actually really liked Persons as defensive assistant under Phil. He was the guy who sort of laid it out for Bynum a couple years ago and had everything funneled to him. Under his defensive scheme we had that stretch of 17 wins in 18 games. He could do something similar with D12. Of course we would have to expend more energy on D than it looks like we are willing to do at the moment. We'll see.

I don't see any room at all for Eddie Jordan now. While I like Nate McMillan, I like him as a head coach. He's not a really a defensive specialist as far as I know and I don't know why he would take an assistant job at this point in his career.

Bick and Person should stay. Bring on Nate, Mike brings on his brother, and call it a day.

Exactly, I thought his only purpose was to teach the Princeton.

Yeah, I don't think anyone else is getting fired, including Jordan. D'Antoni is just going to work them into his staff...at least for this season.

Ham worked extensively with Metta during the summer and also with D12 during his rehab. IMO it would be a douche move to get rid of him after all the work he's put in.

I agree. But this is the "new" Lakers in that regard. Brian Shaw and a lot of long timers unceremoniously let go say "hello".. Hope not.
