Bars Showing Laker Games

Bars Showing Laker Games

Postby CarFlagChris on Sat Oct 06, 2012 12:33 am

Does anyone know if a chain, such as Islands, will be showing all of the Laker games on TWC, or if the issue is geographical?

I would think that any of the pre-2012/13 places would be in the same position as private homes, where certain geographical areas are blacked-out, but I do not know for sure.

I haven't lived in LA since 2009, and I'm not entirely sure what's going on with the new TV deal and what not.

When I used to go out to restaurant/bars in LA, they'd generally be showing a Laker games. Was never much of an issue in those days, but no sure about now.

I checked online for ads at various places, like Trader Vics, Islands, etc., as those were places I watched the games in years past. But, I found nothing. Possibly it is too early. Or, possibly they do not have TWC.
However, as the opening game, albeit preseason, is tomorrow, time is of the essence.

No one has it now except TW and some little other cable channel they own called Bright House Networks. I posted a Plaschke article in the main thread this morning where he says the Lakers facility with DirecTV and Jeannie Buss with same can't get it either.

I can't imagine even in TW's territory a "Bar" having their crappy service as opposed to DirecTV, but if anyone scouts one up please post here we will make them lots of money for pre-season games as if it was the Superbowl.

If the internet links being posted actually work I would be OK with that to at least see pre-season. Don't see how they could stay up though as high profile as this issue is.

It all depends on who has TWC, I'd recommend calling places to find out. I called around 4 or 5 local bars in my area and they don't have TWC nor plan to. I'd imagine you'd have luck w. bigger sports bars, maybe ESPN Zone. Good luck and let us know if you find a place

I called BJ's, and they said they don't have it. Could just be my local one, but I also called yardhouse at L.A. Live - they said noone at LA Live is showing it either - all on DirecTV. This is really hard to believe.

The restaurant I used to work at (which did have a bar area) had TWC. This was some time ago though.
Edit: someone on LG posted a link to this blog. If you're not in san dimas or in the surrounding areas, you need to find some other place.
