Blake Griffin on new-look Lakers: 'On paper it looks great'

Postby JSM on Tue Sep 18, 2012 9:48 am

Darnell Mayberry of the Oklahoman wrote:After one year as perhaps the main basketball attraction in Los Angeles, Blake Griffin and the Clippers figure to again be forced to play in the shadows of the Lakers now that Dwight Howard has teamed up with Kobe Bryant.

But Griffin says not so fast.

“On paper it looks great,” Griffin said during a recent visit to Norman. “People said the same thing when we got C.P., Chris Paul. But they still got to go out there and play.”

Griffin said the Lakers' additions of Howard and Nash make them just one of many talented teams, not necessarily the favorite to win it all this season.

“I think there's a lot of tough teams in the Western Conference. There's one right here (in Oklahoma City) that the Lakers have to get over,” Griffin said. “The Spurs have been a good team for the past 500 years. And I think we're preparing for that. So that's kind of what you expect people to do. You expect them to hand out the trophy in the middle of the summer. So we're not worried about that. We're not worried about just the Lakers.”

The Clippers added Lamar Odom, Grant Hill and Jamal Crawford as part of an off-season overhaul that is expected to keep the Clippers competitive. Griffin said he's “very excited” about where the additions have placed the Clippers but added that Howard's arrival in Los Angeles have overshadowed those and others around the league.

“There's a lot of great teams and a lot of good talent as well,” Griffin said. “It's funny because the Heat have managed to somehow fly under the radar this summer and they added Ray Allen. So we can't forget about all these other teams. We can't worry about just the Lakers.”

Im disappointed. Here I was thinking that if we got enough people to crown us the 2013 champs that we'd just get the LOB Trophy presented in October and play a few exhibition games throughout the season for entertainment purposes. I had no idea we still had to earn it.

Damn.
"Come hell or high water we're gonna be there again. Its just something about the Lakers organization. Mitch is really, really good at it, he's really really good man...."

So which is it; not worried or worried about several teams?

So pretty much everyone is saying the same thing, and I can't say they're really wrong until I see our team play together.

Biff is worried about everyone as he should be. After all he plays for the Clippers.

On second thought he should be more worried about his knees and the Clipper Curse.

LOL at Blake Griffin. They thought they were gonna be the face of LA...poor Clippers. They will ALWAYS be the Clippers. LA is a LAKER town. Gtfo of here. Go to San Diego, or Anaheim, or anywhere else but LA. We don't want you guys here.

I hope we CRUSH these floppers this year...and somehow we meet in the playoffs...that would be EPIC!
