This is the mistake I hear a lot. L.A. living is not going to just bring top talent to L.A. Plus the taxes are exhorbitant. :man12:

These arguments are solid and will get you the edge against others teams ... when you have already a good roster ... not when Sacre is the future and his T(ank) Unit is in the building

You'll have to excuse me if I'm not excited about this signing. Did it make sense? Yes. But he's nothing but a solid short term piece. The type of guy you get if you are close. We are in rebuild mode. But can't complain, we needed bodies.

This is an EMINANTLY tradeable contract, FWIW...we seem to be LOADED with those at the current moment. :man1:
The End is nigh. Time for a total Cut and Shuffle. Kobe contract was a mistake...time to avoid making more. The future is here, whether we want it to be or not. An era is over, but for the death rattle, and it's time for the cycle to begin anew. Growth and change are scary and painful, but alas...nothing worth achieving comes easily.

We should be able to trade this contract and player to a contender that needs front court help before the deadline...if not sooner. Worst case, he's here (and ineffective) for one season at 3.5 million. It's a win all the way around, IMO. Our D and efficiency is going to stink this season anyway, so it's not an issue for me.

I think it was established a few pages back that Boozer can't be traded. Something about the league doesn't want teams claiming players like this off of being amnestied for the sole purpose of trading them.

Dont you go re-bringing in facts already brought up in evidence in this thread.
For what it's worth, the Lakers also clinched the Pacific Division, an achievement Bryant dismissed by saying "We don't hang divisions." No, only the big NBA championship banners are considered wall-worthy for the Lakers.

Wow.... just in on this.

I'm not sure there should be a concern over Boozer getting Randle's minutes.... IMO Randle doesn't have any minutes until he earns them. Too often good player are just handed roles on team at young ages and fail miserably. It really doesn't matter who it is but I'm glad there is someone in front of Randle now. He should have to earn this way into the starting lineup. Regardless of how Boozer plays he can be useful if he makes Randle better than he would otherwise be on a poor team with high expectations.

Completely agree with this. Instead of being handed the job, maybe going out there overconfident and demanding the ball and thinking he's further along than he is, he has to earn it now. He has to take the spot and the minutes from the crafty old vet by working hard, and I'm all for that. I'm not sure Kobe would have turned out quite as good as he has as soon as he did had he been handed a crappy franchise to go out and do whatever he wanted on. Instead he had to learn from Jones and Scott and be behind Shaq and earn and fight his way to the top and to take over this team.

Couldn't agree more with Roo and another reason I like Booze on the team is I used to watch him play in high school and have always wanted to be able to cheer for him in the NBA. Now I can.

Pretty much agree as well. I was a little concerned about Randle getting thrust into a starting role and heavy minutes at 19 right out of his first year of college. I think this is much better all around for him to ease into NBA play and the length of the pro season. Boozer is a solid starting 4 for us this year as Randle develops off the bench. I have no problem with this at all and for 3 million just for one season it's a great contract.

Neither guy leaves their feet on defense.. It would be worse than when we played Pau at C, teams getting to the rack at will.

I made a joke about doing this earlier in the thread because John Ireland (ESPN 710) was saying the Lakers are thinking about doing that. :man10:

I mean, Kobe and Young as your main wings...Randle and Boozer as your interior...Lin would be our best defender by a wide margin. Let me say that again. Lin would be our best defender by a wide margin. :man10:

Thibs as our coach couldn't keep the opponents from averaging 110 a game. :man10:
