Jason Terry and Williams both are free agents. We probably could sign Terry with the MLE and get Williams with the LLE or minimum. I actually would like to keep Shaw, even if he doesn't play a single minute. He's a great locker room leader and he can step up in the clutch as well.

Who cares who we give up to get JT. As longs as it's not Shaq/Kobe than it's a good deal. I live in Atlanta and JT is the Shyt.

the best part about it is that he's a young FA, so we just pay him and play him. him and Gilbert Arenas would benefit us in the FUTURE. We might want to start thinking about that.

I love JT but I thought he was a restricted free agent (meaning Atlanta can match whatever another team offers him)? How will we get him?

I smell [Swearing is not permitted at Clublakers. You must edit this post prior to submitting.]!!! hahahah

from espn.com
The Atlanta Hawks will make a qualifying offer to Jason Terry, ensuring they can match any deal for the free-agent guard.

Hawks president Stan Kasten said the offer of $2.93 million will formally be made on Thursday, when Terry is scheduled to be in town for the NBA draft.

Terry, a first-round pick in 1999, was the Hawks' third-leading scorer a year ago with 17.2 points per game. He was seventh in the NBA with an average of 7.4 assists per game.

What ever the Lakers can offer JT the hawks will top!!! Only a sign and trade will work. And the hawks will not take horry!!!!!

This guys [Swearing is not permitted at Clublakers. You must edit this post prior to submitting.] is not looking so good now!! With GP and Malone looking like they are goin to the lakers!!!!

By David Aldridge
Special to ESPN.com

Free-agent guard Gary Payton is expected to decide Tuesday whether he will accept the Lakers' mid-level exception, according to a source.

The Lakers remain Payton's top choice, although the Miami Heat remain a possibility -- but only if the Heat give Payton all of their available room under the salary cap --around $11 million for next season. In addition, Payton would only sign with the Heat if he had assurances that Miami also would re-sign free-agent center Alonzo Mourning.

The source also indicated that the Indiana Pacers are trying to put together a sign-and-trade offer to Milwaukee, Payton's current team.

Portland also is looking to put together a sign-and-trade offer to Milwaukee, believed to be center Arvydas Sabonis and guard Jeff McInnis. Sabonis, who is not expected to return to the NBA next season, would be waived by Milwaukee under that scenario.

If Payton opts to go to the Lakers, free-agent forward Karl Malone likely will join him there. If Payton doesn't, Malone likely will consider accepting an offer from the San Antonio Spurs.
