A lot of anticipation over what the Lakers have planned for the Tuesday presentation to Dwight Howard. "They're going all out," source said.

Losing Dwight will set us back a few years... but we survived terrible years and come back with vengeance lots of times. I believe even with that joker Jim Buss we can still win a championship. Just need to be careful with personnel moves. No more oldies.

The problem is Kobe only has a few years, & when we finally lose him, that's going to set us back much more than Dwight ever could. Our chances of winning while Kobe is still here go down dramatically if we lose Dwight & have to rely on Mitch to pull off more miracles.. So those few years Dwight can set us back are huge. Also that 'joker' Jim Buss seems to finally be coming around if he's patching things up with Jeanie & Phil.

Kobe Bryant played with Shaq and made THE best big/wing combo. The Lakers built that.

Houston has NOTHING to offer Dwight in terms of winning that the Lakers can't counter and counter quickly.

Especially if he knows the same guy that made that duo work is going to be working with them. I really think Phil's involvement is what will decide if he stays or not.

I mean they WOULD be a great duo. Just not THAT great. And with Houston's lack of a pedigree, they've got NO ground to stand on trying to say they know how to build a compete for Championships. They haven't won anything since the 90s and that was only because the best player of the era took a break.

The Lakers build Championship contenders and they do it quickly. We KNOW what it takes. For s***s sake we were there just a few short years ago.

Who was it that went to 3 straight Finals a few years back? Was that Houston? How many players on the Rockets have rings? How many of them have Finals MVPs? How many of them actually know what it takes to get to the top of the mountain?

It's ridiculous. Everyone knows that if he's leaving LA it's not because Houston gives him a better chance to win a ring. It's because Houston gives him a somewhat better chance at a better regular season and a chance to have more fun.

This concept that they're closer to a Championship than the Lakers though is just flat out pissing me off at this point.

LOL they brought Yao Ming in via skype?

What could he possibly tell him?

The guy got to the second round ONCE in his career AND got beat by the LAKERS. The rest of his career was 1st round exits and failed playoff appearances.

If D12 is all about winning, bringing in Yao Ming isn't exactly a good way to sell that.

So we've contacted about 9 different players and I'm not sure one of them wants to play for the Vet Min and most of them are probably outside the typical "Split" MiniMLE approach we typically take. Will any of them bring what Jamison did?

I don't know what surprise we have for Howard but unless Pau is traded for 2 or 3 players by tomorrow it isn't going to be players.

This is what Dwight desired; he wanted to be wined & dined, recruited and go through this process. So, now he gets to talk to ownership, GM's, and players who have a total of 2 championships. Hell, when we bring Kobe to our meeting he'd have more championships then all of Houston's entourage combined. Go ahead though, Morey; put all your eggs into one basket and strike out. That will work for me should it happen...

There were reports that Dwight might prefer Dallas over Houston because he was more confident in them running the offense through the post. Yao's involvement was probably to sell him on how they've built around a C in the past.

Or how Kobe's jersey sales beat Yao's IN China. :man10:

Want Chinese connections, you go through Kobe. Kobe is the biggest thing in basketball over there not Yao or Lin.

Dallas makes much more sense then Houston; they're a dark horse in this race. Nicer city, players owner, great coach, etc. I always thought Dallas would be much more appealing to Dwight then Houston...

if i'm dwight, and the dinner is wrapping up. i'm asking questions such as:

1) why haven't you made a finals or WCF in the last 15 years.
2) what big name FA have you brought in within the lat 5-10 years.
3) why were you in position to draft yao #1 10 years ago
