He really has some potential, and that is something we need on our roster since we have the likes of Blake, Duhon, and Morris.

He's not going to play... but he's probably better then Morris. We need to open one spot and get rid of one or two of our "point guards" if possible.

Keeping DJO is definitely a future move. If he can pick up being an NBA PG, you know there will be minutes available behind Nash. Finding a true back-up PG that can lead our franchise in the future is now the new priority.

I think if he just became a Nate Robinson type and was a SG in a PG's body, the Lakers would be ecstatic. I don't think DJO is in the Lakers' long term plans as a solution at PG. But if we can retain him for cheap and he is able to develop a wee bit of passing ability... I don't know how long we plan on running the Princeton Hybrid, but Derek Fisher was our PG for a long, long time and that worked out fine. If we continue running a system offense, our PG wouldn't necessarily need to be a young Steve Nash.

Glad to see we kept him. I still don't know why he didn't get that much playing time. Oh, well. He made the roster, and if groomed well, could potentially be a serviceable piece...

I have the impression the Lakers roster is not set at 15 even after Saturday's unofficial deadline. Team still thinking on DJO

^Not surprising since in the past Mitch has always preferred to roll with a 14 man roster for the sake of flexibility.

They can always can DJO before the January 20th deadline if they don't think they'll be needing him.

Well, Delonte West has been waived. If Mitch successfully picks him off waivers, somebody has to go. I hope it's not DJO, but he and Sacre are the only non-guaranteed options. And Sacre has proven himself to be a valuable asset.

I like DJO a lot... ugh...

But if waiving him means getting Delonte we should do it. I'd rather the Lakers find a way to trade Clark though. He's got a friendly contract and some upside...

It would have to be DJO or Morris.

And then we have to get rid of Blake or Duhon. Can we get some picks for them?

^ Honestly I wouldn't care. If we could let them go for just TPEs that'd be amazing. Or just ask for conditional 2nd rounders (basically give them away for free).

Well, giving them away for free would be good too.

That's fine. We can attach Clark to that too. Young, got some upside, friendly contract.

Young, atheletic, shot blocker. There's upside there. Just because he's been banged up here, doesn't mean he doesn't have potential.

thats one way of looking at it but didn't seem to prevent him from being a throw in from Pho to Orl and then from Orl to us. Those 2 team didn't think to highly of him. I hope for our sake someone else out there will take a flyer but based on the production to contract of Blake/Duhon I have hard time imagning anyone paying that price just for clark. Maybe Morris is tradable with Clark but I guess its not wise to question Mitch wand power :man1:

Morris can't be traded until December.

Clark, Duhon, and Blake are all attractive from a financial standpoint. Next season Clark expires, that's a cool million off the books. Duhon is easily bought out and Blake becomes a 4 million dollar expiring. Mitch turned Luke/Kapono/1st into Sessions/Eyenga. In theory he should be able to turn Blake/Duhon/Clark into draft picks or something.

So, Mike Brown, will rookie Darius Johnson-Odom get a look while Steve Nash is out? Brown: "No. Probably not."

So we fill up our 15 roster with DJO and when an opportunity presents itself to see what you have in the guy and if he's worth that 15th spot, you don't give it to him. Expect more Morris :bang:

I can actually see why he would say something like that. Kid's unproven, and we need a win. Granted, one of our best backups in hill was an unproven throw in at the end of a game, and he turned out as a nice gamble.
