Darius Johnson Odom Discussion: Waived

^^^ Mariupol is a hole. Don't kid yourself. Living conditions in a town in South Dakota are probably better.

Remember CDR's story how he didn't have running hot water to bath his daughter in Italy!? Mariupol may well be worse.

Players need to clear waivers - 48 hours - by 5pm Easter - so in theory 2pm today in LA? Both Sacre (shaved head) and DJO practicing

Looking like DJO did in fact make the team.

It's just strange because he got zero PT in the preseason.....

I really like the kid. Stash him on the Defenders and let him grow his game over there.

I still see something in DJO, I think he's worth keeping for a one season tryout. Mainly he's quick and and get to the hoop, he's athletic, some things we really lack at the guard position. Doubt he'll get much playing time, if any, but I think he's worth at least a longer look and a cheap guy to keep in case of injury.

It makes sense. We can always waive him (non guaranteed contract) if we manage to bring in West or somebody else to upgrade our PG rotation.

I'd throw him in the mix right away, see if he can hang, if not go back to Blake/Duhon. But that was what preseason was for. :man11:

^I think they're trying to get rid of Blake or Duhon. You can't get rid of players if you don't play them.

They might as well keep this kid now as a 15th player. I have ZERO faith in Duhon, Blake and Morris

If Sacre continues to bust his butt and gets his footwork down, he could a Gortat clone, no doubt about it.

Great news! Next moves are to eat the money on Clark and Morris and let them go, then trade Duhon for picks, then sign Delonte.

It is very strange how he got no PT in the preseason yet made the roster. He must have been very impressive during practice, or the Lakers didn't want to lose that $500,000+ investment.

I'm hoping this came from Mitch and he just MADE Brown keep DJO by cutting Goudelock.

In the extremely limited time DJO played, his athleticism was already a changer. He's extremely quick. His fast twitch muscles have fast twitch muscles. I see a mini Shannon Brown in him.

I watched him is the summer league and the few minutes he played in the Preseason.... while he's athletic so are a lot of other players..... on the streets.. I didn't see anything that would lead one to believe he is "changer" of any sort.

Hope I'm wrong but he looks like this years version of Morris and Goudelock....

he wont get ANY minutes. guaranteed. blake and duhon will get killed out there and mike wont even try DJO for a minute.

i think hed be a good strong athletic guy to throw at westbrook. obviously he isnt gunna shut him down but if he's practicing and getting better throughout the season...i think come later in the season he'd have a better chance at slowing/bothering westbrook than nash, blake, duhon, morris. or even other pg's we have to face like parker, brooks, maybe a little cp3. no one can stop those guys but duo has the assets to bother them, hes just gotta get better throughout the season.

i hope he gets the minutes to try bc otherwise its a waste of $ keeping him. guys need experience and without it when we need someone they wont be able to contribute bc they never got their feet wet. even in the preseason he barely got any minutes. and thats when he should have. not he'll def not get any.

^^I'm thinking DJO is heading to the D-League and when he's ready, he'll come back up. If a no-brainer pops up in free agency, we have options of now trading our glut in the backcourt or even waiving DJO before his contract become fully guaranteed (Jan 20th).

Keeping DJO is definitely a future move. If he can pick up being an NBA PG, you know there will be minutes available behind Nash. Finding a true back-up PG that can lead our franchise in the future is now the new priority.
