Darius Morris Discussion

How could the Lakers give this guy a contract before summer league even started? I think he might even be worse than Luke, he's stealing money from the Lakers right now. In the not very distant past I said I thought I had potential, but I take it back, he's garbage, can't shoot, can't pass, always out of control, wow.

I haven't seen anything from Darius Morris that indicates that he's NBA caliber. I hope I'm wrong but nothing he's shown thus far shows that he's capable of competing at this level.

You do have potential, keep your head up. Next game you will not be garbage, you can shoot, can pass and will be in control.

Darius Morris is awful. He doesn't do any ONE thing well at all and as someone said, he hasn't shown anything whatsoever to indicate he can play at the NBA level.

This guy might be the worst point guard to suit up for the Lakers ever ... I don't know if he is, but it's damn close if he isn't.

He lacks even the most basic point guard skills ... he doesn't even know how to dribble without trapping himself.

He's basically a cancer out there when he's running point. He basically was overdribbling and throwing off-target passes to Jamison, who had to jack up threes with the clock running low.

If you want to watch a broken play, put Darius Morris in the game.

The way JW and McGee were hyping him up during the halftime show, I'm wondering if there really is a trade on the horizon involving him. I've rarely ever seen JW give that kind of undeserved hype to a player before.

He sure was "Morris The Terrible" last year. I haven't been able to watch any pre-season games so far, but based on the comments on Twitter etc, I had hopes he would improve even a bit. Seemingly that's not the case, sounds like Sacre is already more useful.

^ He actually showed some flashes of certain positive things last year.

This preseason he's actually regressed. He looks beyond horrible. Hurts us more than he helps.

At least g-lock can make shots...usually. Don't want either of them though.

He did indeed show flashes of usefulness at first last season, but he regressed as time went by. Seems like he's picking up where he left off.

Ya I really thought Tierre Brown is the worst thing to ever happen to the PG spot on the Lakers but Brown could at least shoot somewhat or get to the rim every once in a blue moon...Morris can't do anything.

I really want to like him and want to believe that he's a good player, a good guy, and someone that can be helpful.

But he just isn't. He's terrible and he's not improving. Offensively he's one of the worst PGs I've ever seen. He dribbles with his head down into traffic and throws up an awkward pass to someone. He has no jump shot. I've been making better decisions offensively since I played junior league ball. Defensively he's got some tools, but he's not great there either...

I'm sorry, he just isn't good enough. I'd rather play Glock at the 1. Yes, he has no real PG skills, but if you have other guys who know how to pass the ball, you can "hide" his deficiencies and let him shoot the ball few times. At least he can give you 6-7 points without too much trouble.

Ideally, we'd be able to trade Blake/Duhon and get a new (combo?) guard. Keep Ebanks, CMD and Sacre and the rest... we don't really need.

morris has made no visible improvements since i first saw him debut as a laker. he dribbles himself into trouble like a man out of control. he's not a good passing point guard, he's not a good shooting point guard. but he could be a good defender...a los angeles d-fender.

I don't know what the Lakers organization see in this guy, yes he's tall for a PG but that doesn't mean he's going to be the next Magic. Hopefully management cuts him.

I hope to god we are trying to pump this guy up for a trade and no one in the organization actually BELIEVES the crap they are saying about him.....

Of all the "pet" guards we've had..... he's got to be the worst I've seen. There isn't one facet of his game that's even close to NBA level..... at least some of those guys over the years were at least average at something....

He did it multiple times last night. Problem is he then proceeded to wildly chuck the ball at the basket like Fisher used to do but worse, or get trapped baseline and throw the ball out of bounds. So yeah, I'd rather he didn't dribble penetrate if that is going to be the result.

^I said this last season about him, he reminds me of Drew. Very raw. The problem is that guards are a dime a dozen while bigs are a rarity. You invest time and patience in raw recruits like Bynum. You don't typically try that with guards. It looks like the Lakers are looking at Morris as a "project player" that might turn into gold later. IMO, if they're going to have a "project player" for a guard, they should try working with DJO instead.
