Darius Morris Discussion

Seriously, Morris played horrible defense on Bledsoe. Bledsoe blew past him, and Morris nearly tackled him from the back...and the refs didn't call the foul. Even the commentator (Hubie Brown, I think) said that it was a foul and should have been called.

I don't really blame Morris though. It is not his fault that he got a lot of playing time, and getting a QO in the summer. But he does kind of suck for a PG. He doesn't run any kind of plays. He zooms up the court, and does nothing with the ball or set up his teammates...you know...like what a PG should be doing.

^^^ :man10: (Easily, my favorite scene in that show.)

But in order to keep this thread on topic, I'm just going to say sorry for offending you kobe_mamba. I look forward to discussing this with you further after we see more from Morris and his contributions to the team.

That being said, I love to give youth a look and that is why I want to see Sacre and DJO more, but I'm just not convinced in what I've seen so far from Morris that he is a playmaker at the 1. He's more of a undersized 2 and with Kobe there already and Mike using Ebanks there over Jodie, Morris really won't ever see any time at the 2. So Brown is trying to force the issue and make him a 1. IMHO, its a mistake and really a waste of time, cause other guys that deserve those minutes and could contribute more to the team are available. But even with an extensive look at his personnel through the preseason, Mike still hasn't developed a 2nd unit...that's pretty inept for a coach if you ask me.

Bledsoe did blow past Morris once. Morris did hep-check him and yes, Hubie did mention it. Other than that, I though his D was O-K in general, in limited minutes.

Its not so much that you offended me, just didn't really appreciate the subtle reminder of your powers on the site. I thought it was really unnecessary considering the context of our discussions thus far. My original mention of Mods was based on observations from my experience (on many forums) when someone goes against a couple of mods. I've never had a problem myself.

Thanks for the apology though. Also, you make valid points and I respect your opinion. Trust me, I have no NEED to be right on this, or the MB stuff. It's simply my view on things right now. I'll be pleased if Morris can develop his game, but if he doesn't, I won't be too upset and it won't come as a huge shock.

You can disagree with the mods here. We don't ban on the basis of agreement.

If you come hard with your opinions but remain respectful, no one would complain.

Exactly! We're not other websites. What mods do there is not what you should expect here. Anybody can disagree with a mod...you're entitled to your opinion.

My "ban" comment was just to lighten the air and I didn't mean anything by it. Sometimes over a social forum like this, alot could be lost in translation. So I didn't mean any disrespect and I was attempting to just lighten the tone. Either way, mods make mistakes and its my bad for that, but one thing I want to clarify and dispute is that a member is in no way in danger of getting banned if they disagree with a mod...just make sure to come strong with it, cause you know we'll be bringing it. :man12:

That being said lets get back on track: Morris sucks...that is all! :man9:

I know its a very very small sample size but Morris seems comfortable shooting the corner 3 on catch and shoot, thats 2 games in a row he's made one. He sucks at pretty much everything else though like dribbling and creating for himself or others. He was the floor general to start the 4th and Pistons had a 9-0 run because he couldn't set up the guys.

they say a point guard should be an extension of the coach on the court and morris certainly fits that description

in that both he and brown are in way over their heads and have no idea what they're doing

Still think that Duhon is playing better despite his limited time

I don't understand how he continues to get PT...I don't see it...dude can't create his own shot to save his life...he had some good minutes in the first half but man watching this guy makes me want to pull my hair out...like really????I would rather have Smush Parker running point...

I think he's one of those guys that the whole team like. I always see him at the end of the line when they do players introduction and giving players hugs and stuff like that. I guess he cant play, but have a hell of a personality for Miss Congeniality of the team.

Vitti uttered three words that surely applies to how Bryant made two free throws on one leg, walked off the court on his own and processed his rehabilitation plan amid the pain, frustration and tears.

Morris would be ok on a team that's rebuilding...like Detroit...he can grow..make mistakes, develop his game

Well... he's really more like a SG (He is 6-4 after all) who doesn't have great handles. But he can't really shoot either.

That's what's known as a "Smush Parker".

i like that he pressures their pg bringing the ball up court everytime. makes it a little harder for them. thats the one thing i really like about him. he makes them react to him at first not just waiting for them to come up court and blow past him...makes it a little harder and takes some time off the shot clock

Hmmm... he's different then Smush. Smush has longer arms and is more athletic. In fact, Smush had superb athletic talent, but his attitude was horrible. Morris is a better locker room guy; works hard, is likeable, plays more under control, but... doesn't have great basketball skills, and does not have the athleticism to compensate. So, he ends up cracking under full court pressure, can't shoot consistently and is not able to create like, say, Duhon. Duhon is a much better playmaker. I don't know what to say about Morris... nice guy, but I'm not sure what Brown sees in him, because he's not a very good player. By NBA standards obviously. He can play some D at least.

For what it's worth, the Lakers also clinched the Pacific Division, an achievement Bryant dismissed by saying "We don't hang divisions." No, only the big NBA championship banners are considered wall-worthy for the Lakers.
