There are two teams that play in the Staples Center:
the LA Lakers and NBA Clippers.

Except Walton was better than Morris. He can't handle the ball, he sometimes chuck up whack shots, and his turnovers are horrible.

Walton was actually a really good player in 06-07, a huge reason we started off the season 26-13 or something like that. Once he got injured everything went to crap.

Said it before, but this guy's perhaps the worst point guard I've ever seen on the Lakers.

He literally doesn't do one thing right. Shows adequate effort on defense but that's about it.

Why he's playing instead of at least giving Chris Duhon a chance baffles me.

-14 tonight, yet our clown coach sticks with him. :bang:

Slava laughed at the suggestion his skills might be affected by the down time. "Are you kidding?" he said. "Basketball is like ball. It's all a circle."

Worst PG in the league for sure. Makes Duhon look like a really effective playmaker

I'll give him one thing: the fast break play was the first time I've seen him make an NBA caliber play. That was the first time I've ever though "hey this kid has the ability to play out here".

Then it was erased quickly and efficiently by the rest of the game.

Remember a few years ago, some guy wrote an article where he showed that Luke was statistically the absolute worst player in the league?

He should write one for Morris.

I'll reitrerate what I said in the gameday thread. I suppose the trade-off for spending the majority of 100 million on high profile star players is that you wind up with reserves that are fringe NBA players at best. That translates to your stars having to contribute 80-90% of your production. Hence, a bench full of scrubs like Morris. That sure puts a hell of a lot of pressure on the five guys you trot out to start games night in and night out. The question is, for all the magic Mitch has worked in bringing marquee names to the Lakers, has that resulted in having to fill out our roster with garbage?

^ No not really. We have competent bench players. Blake, Jamison, Hill, and Meeks are all good bench players. Ebanks has improved, but without consistent opporunity he hasn't been able to show it.

Mitch did a fine job of filling out the roster. We have guys that can play, they just aren't.

I remember one that showed that assists from the SF spot is the stat that correlated most highly with winning games. And Luke was good at that. But then the injuries hit.

There was a recent comment from Brown that Morris was "growing" as a player hence the minutes. Either they are showcasing him this early or they really believe as a staff that there is potential there. To me he's just a bigger version of David Rivers.

I sure would like to believe that's the case, but I'm not so certain. With the level of talent in this league, I just don't know if "competent" gets us very far in this current NBA. It seems like just about every team trots three guys or more off the bench who could legitimately vie for starting roles. The talent level is very high right now in the league and I don't see that across our roster. We're now looking at our starting lineup that has to perform balls-out every night (which isn't happening) to compensate for an anemic bench. Like everyone in here, I'm sure hoping this turns around.
