Darius Morris Discussion

My expectations for him haven't really changed. I appreciate what he's been able to do for us as a starter, but his impact on the game is still so minimal offensively that I can't see him cracking the rotation as a back-up. He's had a couple of decent games, and some where he just flat out laid an egg. If he needs to start to get us 12 and 5, yet he's still capable of giving us 1 point/1 assist games in starter minutes, then I just don't see him being effective in 10-15 minutes a game playing with the bench (which realistically is all he could get on this team when we're healthy).

I think it was him being under Mike Brown that stunted his growth. He had to think too much on offense to be the leader out there and set up the Princeton. With his erratic style and having to set up offense, it was a disaster. I think this run and gun offense will help him out more as more players are out on the wings and he can facilitate easier; not as much thinking.

Morris has impressed me. He still sometime is out of control, he needs to learn to control his speed, as quickness isn't the only way to get to the basket. He needs to watch more film on Nash and learn how to get others open shots, espcially since he's probably one of the best finishers out of our PG's

Play tough D and hit the 3. That's all we need. It's amazing how different he looks when he plays within his role.

I guess I was wrong about Morris looking like one of the very worst players in the league. It's amazing what just a coaching change does to a player.

That's the thing though. He actually WAS playing like one of the worst players in the league. His game has taken a complete 180

Way too much run for Morris today. Running him with the bench unit makes no sense...he's not a playmaker and doesn't make guys around him better. He's better hidden amongst the starters with Kobe doing all the playmaking. All he needs to do is hit open shots and defend. He was okay with the shot (one made three), but terrible on defense...Deron just pwned him.

Agree ... Duhon is better playmaker .... I am surprised by Morris D but that's about it .. he makes some nice plays occasionally but then he makes some dumb ones ... his playmaking is questionable - he will never be a typical PG to handle a ball like nash and make some plays but decent rotation guy ... if only he develops a reliable jumper ...

Morris' playmaking in full court is decent, but he's borderline retarded in half-court. The only thing he should be doing in half-court is standing in the corner and shooting open J's.

Actually, I don't really like his playmaking. Tonight, for the first time, I saw him giving the right pass, but overall, it's been pretty much awful, unless he's really alone for a layup.

Morris still has many areas to improve ...

... but it's BEYOND refreshing to see a Lakers PG play solid defense and provide athleticism.

should've been smarter or someone should've of told him not to try and check Deron full court, valiant effort but just begging to get burned with that hard screen by Humphries and a few plays later getting tourched

He didn't have a good overall game, especially when he was trying to guard Deron at full court. However, I'm really surprised by how much he's improved his shooting. There were a couple threes he nailed that didn't count because of offensive fouls, but it's good to see he's been working in that area.

he didn't have a "good" game but I think considering he's learning and going against deron he did okay. and I agree his shooting has improved. after a whistle or right at one he'd shoot a 3 or pull up J and swish it. and that straight away 3 to tie it was a big one. I like him and hope he gets better

This guy needs to be given a chance as our backup PG. Unlike Blake and Duhon he's still young and can still improve. Still hope for Morris.

I haven't been able to watch all of the last two or three games, same for tonight, but really, this kid shouldn't ever be allowed to (try, and fail) to run the offense unless he's leading a fast break. Just defend and take open shots.
