Really pleased to see Morris has kept working hard and found his way on this team...
ESPN/ABC Commentator, GSW Coach and NBA Legend Mark Jackson on Kobe Bryant 'No disrespect to Kyra Sedgwick, but damn he is The Closer' 'Mamma, there goes that man'
"The first time I ever saw my uniform hanging in the locker I put it on right away, and it just felt like I was putting on golden armour. From that day forward, I just called it 'the golden armour', it just felt like there was something mystical and magical about it" - Kobe Bryant.
There's something about him and that he's big, physical, quick and a good defender, and that he seems to be pushing his own envelope hard and improving on his weaknesses. I could see his type of player continuing to improve over this season and another hard summer of work. Maybe by next season if he's still here we really have something in him. He handles the rock better now. He shoots better now. He is being more aggressive in going to the hole and finishing better now. He's playing pretty damn good defense for a Lakers guard. That I assume continues to improve as well. I believe he's a gym rat both with the ball and with the machines.
IIRC, Morris was only in the game last night with Nash. He's there for defense. Are you saying you want Nash and Duhon in the game at the same time? Can't say I agree with that.
I get what D'antoni's going for. Morris can actually do a decent job covering most PG's. Nash would get burned trying to stay in front of PG's as they try to penetrate, but he's much better at simply chasing shooters (I thought Nash played solid defense on Jack, Jack was just hitting some tough jumpers).
His defense can really be outstanding at times. It's too bad his offense is just fading away into SG territory. This kid has some phyical tools to be a PG, especially in this system.

id rather start ebanks at the 3. he can play D too and crash the boards. plus who else would play with more energy purpose and heart than someone whos trying to earn minutes.
Morris starting makes zero sense. And yeah, he can be in at times for defensive purposes, but really that should be it. Not many minutes any more please.
He had a solid outing tonight, but I still don't get the point of him starting. He's just... not good enough. We need to start out with a bang... Meeks @ starting SG makes more sense. How much of an impact does Morris's defense really make?
The Blazers star rookie had 11 and 4 on 4/17 shooting, Morris was guarding him a lot, not a coincidence. Yes, he's not great, but he had 8 and 2 on 4/6 shooting, that's solid. I can see complaining if we lost or Morris was garbage, but we won and he wasn't, so why not just give the kid credit?
