Five quick points when we were down 11... Morris had a WTF moment in the second when he blew by the defense, was underneath for a reverse, kept going all the way outside then threw the ball to someone else.

Oh how funny, I just came here to post someone HAS to make a gif of Blake driving the baseline and coming from under the backboard and going up and putting the ball in the basket. In the gif immediately followed by Morris taking almost the exact same route and coming from behind it wide open and dribbling out to to the top of the key instead without even thinking to go up. Freaking hilarious. Definitely WTF moment. :man10:

Morris played great tonight i thought. Minus those 2 boneheaded plays, he was MUCH better than Meeks on D....and he actually managed to hit an open J.....2 of them at a pivotal point in the game.

We don't win this game without those 5 points from Morris.

His defense was really good overall. You could tell that Harden was a little vexed by it to where he resorted to jumpers rather than trying to test it too much or work for fakes or and-ones. Of course, Harden, good as he is, isn't exactly a 'blow by' player, defending him is more about keeping honest and not biting on fakes. Morris had that patience and discipline for the most part and it was great.

Harden really played weird last night. He clearly has game to most of the time smoke the guys we had on him, Morris included. But a lot of those blow by them opportunities, I think, he was hesitating and affected about doing because he know Dwight was in the paint waiting for him. Even before he got "ABUSED" twice by Dwight, with lenient but not necessarily unfair "no calls" late in the game.

The obvious story with Harden was:

1. Dwight was in the paint. He got blocked a few times and started either settling for jumpers giving it up to someone else.
2. Houston doesn't have shooters. What made Harden effective in OKC was the fact that they spread the floor for him and he was able to operate, so his options were limited.
3. McFail was running ISO all game. Morri/Meekss actually started to pick him up and forced him to drive or make a pass, albeit Harden got passed Morris constantly, he ran straight into Dwight. No movement from Houston allowed our defense to read the passing lane.

could we even form a servicable role player if we combined Meeks/Morris/Glock together as one? :man10:

You have to hand it to the young man as he is fearless getting up on an All-Star and staying down. The fouls Harden drew on him where when Morris was retreating back. Those two Js he canned to lead the comeback looked nice and did not looked like the flat footed ones he takes in the corner. Morris' continuing education resumes against Parker. He still has a tendency to keep dribbling wasting seconds off the clock and his half court passing makes me cringe.

It's true Harden played a bit weird but there really were a few sequences where Morris kept his feet, kept his balance, didn't bite on fakes, closed space and just generally did everything exactly perfectly from a defensive standpoint. Maybe on most nights Harden is trying a bit more or whatever and that doesn't happen, but it's still good to see something that should be a confidence builder for Morris as we'll likely be needing him in the PS.

The positive about Darius' game has been his defense this season. He has an improving jumpshot; however, he still plays out of control at times. We can use him situatonally at this point, IMO. I would play on Parker and some of the other PG's an SG's for defensive purposes.

So the way I see it:

Mitch: "Darius, you're a good kid. You work hard. You come to practice and work your butt off all the time."
Darius: "Thanks Mr. K! I'm glad you feel that way! I was thinking I'd kind of like a bigger ro-"
Mitch: "But you suck. You're just not very good man."
Darius: "...Oh."
Mitch: "Yeah. You're terrible. You can come back, but don't expect to play much. And don't ask for money."
Stu : "Yeah, that's an old fashioned whoopin'."

He's a waste of a roster spot. I hope some team comes along and makes him an offer he can't refuse...please no more Morris!!!

What bigger role? Any role on this team is too big for him. Unfortunately, because I like his attitude. But we simply don't need him right now.

Former Laker PG Darius Morris and D-Leaguer Stefhon Hannah were also working out for Baron Davis and the Knicks today in Vegas.

Good riddance.
