When three point shooting teams don't win: they suck, can't shoot, and can't defend. When the team shoots well: they're the best, they're unstoppable, everyone is an All-Star.

What I saw last night was what I thought I'd see from them all season: inconsistent shooting, created shots coming ONLY from Harden, but most importantly... Howard isolations. I won't even call them post opportunities because it would be insulting to all the big men before him who actually could post up. His touch around the rim is nonexistent. I don't know what he's doing when he practices with Hakeem, but it's not working. If their plan is to post him up more, they're going to lose a LOT of games this season.

Interesting...
I remember Harden at OKC doing a decent job at guarding Kobe. I guess now that he's the man he doesn't play defense any more.
Interesting.

I think he was allowed (like all of them) to be overly physical with Kobe but I didn't think he was that good of a defender. There is also something to the notion of being a bench guy and a main guy.

I think he did a good job defending Kobe for a 6th man. When they actually wanted to defend Kobe they'd send Thabo.

Harden looked good in stretches against him, but he wasn't their best defender. He's not a great defender by any means.

true. I also think he had a lot of help too. Most teams help out on Kobe and Harden was no different. He isn't that bad of a defender but not what people are making him to be.

^ Harden was a decent defender against Kobe, but realdeal's right, they went to Thabo for longer stretches, and sometimes to KD in crunch time because of his length.
Also key: the roaming type of help D Ibaka played against us. He knew he could recover on to Pau or whoever we were playing at the 4 so sometimes he'd just roam and try to get the block on Kobe - which he did, occationaly.

some growing pains for this team...lots of bad plays down the stretch...parsons inbounding to howard was a big one.

Harden wasn't responsible for that last play, but I'm really getting annoyed with him half-assing it on defense. He makes no attempt to chase guys without the ball. Meeks hit a 3 in the last minute, and Harden just stood there while the ball was shot.

Dwight Howard is not getting the ball enough

for now, the rockets are definitely not anywhere near contenders

good thing this is the beginning of the season

What makes this loss so bad is seeing all these punk [Swearing is not permitted at Clublakers. You must edit this post prior to submitting.] lakers fans on social media thinking they will win the chip this year when Kobe comes back

Nothing has changed from last season. The Rockets still only have 3 real offensive plays, and a bunch of PnRs and isos that often end in TO or contested shot. Dwight is still the crappy offensive player from last season. Defense actually looks worse (mostly Harden's fault)

Aye before this season started I was all for the Asik Howard experiment but after these 6 games it's time to shop Asik now that **** ain't gone work

Yannis Koutroupis ✔ @YannisHW

James Harden just lit into Jeremy Lin for his last shot. Beverly and McHale had to signal to him to calm down.

I think opponents would invite that...Howard being fed down low. His game on offense is pedestrian, it negates their pick and rolls, perimeter shooting, Harden's isos...while paring down the clock to 10 seconds or less.

Yup.

I'm not scared of Dwight on the block AT ALL. When they dump low to Dwight, I love it.

nice taste of doom but I know there is some tastier doom. Those guys got handled by a Kobe-less Lakers team with the 3-pointer being drained in D12's face.
