It's still unbelievable to me.

Dwight didn't want to join forces with another great player and win. He wanted to get rid of the better player, so he could be the best.

I saw a little of the interview today on ESPN. I can't believe how he sits there with a straight face ands says that he never quit on a team, neither Orlando nor the Lakers. How does he live with himself??

The key difference is intent.

Kobe tried to get rid of shaq because he wanted to WIN w/o him.

Dwight tries to get rid of Kobe because it strokes his ego, regardless of the results.

No, he got tired of his bull crap and his work ethic that was not on the same level as Kobe busting his butt. And of course the side kick status. OK ... yeah some of what you said. He hated the side kick status but Shaq's BS and laziness more.

I think beyond everything the reason that dwight annoys is he's really brainless. Calling a sub-500 coach "great", Mchale couldn't deliver, a better player, in garnett a title, he wasn't a great executive and an even worse he goes to an organization who's littered with big men who have never won a chamionship with the rockets...besides the dream(no jordan) like what did they sell him on? Oh look to your right Barkley ringless, yao ringless, evelin hayes ringless(with the rockets) and ralph sampson ringless.

And can someone plz tell dwight he did CHOOSE LA! He had them on his list of teams to be traded to. I'm just sick of his blameless self. He blames everyone besides himself. Does he all think we're that naive.

Yeah Dwight is right where he belongs: among the second best big men the league ever offered.

...Houston is second among collections of great NBA big men...

That's what I'm trying to say...

yup
For what it's worth, the Lakers also clinched the Pacific Division, an achievement Bryant dismissed by saying "We don't hang divisions." No, only the big NBA championship banners are considered wall-worthy for the Lakers.

Well the Dream I'd put against any NBA center of any era. The rest of them are in the 2nd tier.

I know, he's their headliner. I know people want to include Moses Malone too, but Malone's most team success (and what he's known best for) is not Houston, but Philadelphia. I don't include him really.

But even with Hakeem, Jordan had to retire before Dream won anything.

Yao would've been up there with the best had he been healthy. Dude was dominating....I remember when he first came into the league and everyone was laughing at him

I'm not sold.

He was what he was: very talented offensively, protected the rim well, but he was slower than erosion and about as mobile as a stop sign.

He was very good. But he wasn't great. He was and always will be a second tier Center in the history of the league.

Those are what ifs. He has 2 rings. You can play the what if game with any championship won, and he also played some of the best basketball ever played during that time, especially the 1995 run. In fact if we play the what if game, it's possible that Jordan wouldn't have won 6 rings had he not retired. Retiring helped Jordan preserve his body so he wouldn't have as many miles on him for the 2nd go around. You never know what could have happened had he not retired.

Fact is Olajuwon has 2 rings that he earned, you can't just discount that.

^What people also don't recall is that Houston used to sweep the two game series against Chicago during Jordan's first 3peat. Phil used to say that Houston had their number.

Where's Malone?

Also.... Howard and Sampson have about the same level of success so far.... the rest of those guys are waaaaaaaay out of reach for Howard both on a skill level and on a mental level.

It's almost like putting James Edwards in with Wilt, Kareem and Shaq.

I thought Ralph Sampson was 7'4? Yao looks 3-4 inches taller than him. :man4: Also Coward looks closer to 6'9. Congrats to Houston on getting a slightly better version of Ben Wallace.

Point proven. :man10:

Look, I like Yao a lot. But he's not among the Kareems, the Wilts, the Hakeems, and the Shaqs.
