I saw his impact on D late, but overall I still don't see a ton of impact in huge games like this from him, still think he's a 2nd option on a title team, at most.

Very good game too.

He's really struggled with whistles lately... It kind of forces him to play like a little girl and that's depressing. He's got to learn how to be effective while being in foul trouble.

But there was a stretch there in the second half where he absolutely took over offensively. And of course defensively he sets the tone around the rim.

He's gotta show more composure. Nice 20/10 game though he abused Meyers Leonard in 1 on 1 situations

Play like when Maynor got around him and missed the layup shows you the back pb is still limiting his D a good deal ... he couldn't jump and contest ... I saw this type of play quite a few times this season ...

Same on the PNR D , he's backing off because he doesn't feel confident about staying with perimeter guys and contesting the shot like he used to

Well duh. :man10:

As soon as Kobe's gone (assuming we haven't signed another wing yet), Dwight will be the only one on the team even capable of being AN option. He'll HAVE to be our first option.

The thought makes me shudder with fright. If we hope to win anything we better find a real 1st option that can score AND spoon feed Dwight.

I think we'll get our hands on one fairly easily when the time comes. We're the Lakers. We've got the city, the history, and when the time comes we'll have the money and the best big man in the game.

He looks really good with Pau.. If these 2 can keep it up & improve their 2 man game that's going to be tough to stop.. Great strategy to break out in the playoffs. No team we'll face in the 1st round has an answer for Dwight & Pau when they're dominating, we saw that in the OKC game after the break.

better chemistry with pau recently. could be tho that its just pau playing better. but either way its better.

alsoive noticed when pau is in the post dwight is standing completely out of bounds and then sneaks back in for rebounds lobs etc. smart giving pau more room and pau gives dwight more room when hes at the horns creating for dwight and others

Are we gonna give Dantoni some credit for throwing Pau back into the starting lineup this late in the season in hopes of Pau/Dwight developing some chemistry? All year, people have been clamoring about how those 2 don't fit together on both ends....maybe, just MAYBE, they're finding some chemistry at the right time....but I'm gonna hold my breath until we make the playoffs.

man some one needs to tell him to stop swatting ball out of bounds like he's playing volleyball......majority of those spiked blocks could've been easily snatched out of the air and or a controlled block. Yea it looks nice when you smash into the 1st row but then the opponents turn around off an inbound play and get an easy bucket, almost every time.

I kind of get why he slams the blocks so hard though, it's not that easy to block and catch a ball. Like that block on the Lillard layup, if he goes up with the intention of catching it or blocking it soft, he might miss it entirely. Blocking is a split second reaction thing, it's not as easy as deciding in mid air if it's a catchable ball or one to swing hard at to just tip. What I mean is when you go up for a block you have to go up fast and with the intent to swing hard to at the very least get a piece of it, if you don't you could miss it entirely. You see him challenge other shots the exact same way all game and a lot of those he doesn't block, so it's not like he knows going up if he's gonna get it or not, he swings hard and hopes to get it. I will take a swat out of bounds over a missed block every time.

^The art of shot blocking then keeping it in play. Russell perfected it. Abdul-Jabbar, Walton and Olajuwon were good at it too. One positive out of what Howard does is that it resets the defense.

For what it's worth, the Lakers also clinched the Pacific Division, an achievement Bryant dismissed by saying "We don't hang divisions." No, only the big NBA championship banners are considered wall-worthy for the Lakers.
