I think this city and this team really have turned around completely in his mind. He's MADE for Hollywood and LA. This is his city. When it's all said and done, I think he'll be able to look back and be proud of what he did in LA with this team. Of course, that's 10 years from now.

I can't wait to see what he's going to do for this franchise.

Exactly, and its not just that he's a Superstar/Franchise type player. He's the type of person with the right character and head on his shoulders that I want on my team. In the back of my mind for all these years I was really concerned that when Kobe hangs um up will we have someone to carry us to our next destination and future. I honestly sleep better at night knowing that we have someone now to take Kobe's place when his time on this team and reign on the NBA is over. Dwight's a very likeable person and because of who he is, the sky is the limit and it feels good from a fan's perspective that we're going to be okay

Also, young stars will want to play with Dwight. And that will make Mitch's job easier.

Is it just me or did Howard bulk up quite a bit since he first came here?

I won't complain. Yes, FTs, I know... but the guy had a 20/10 game while recovering from a back surgery. That's, uh... decent.

3/14 from the line is unacceptable. I don't care who's shooting or how healthy he is, if you practice FTs EVERY DAY, you don't miss 11 out of 14.

I wonder how long it'll take him to get his speed and lift back. Defensively he just wasnt anywhere near himself.

Offensively you could see the frustration on his face when he didnt finish those dunks

He doesn't look close to back physically, which is to be expected. I just hope he does get it back at some point, because with his athleticism gone he's not quite the same player. The free throw thing is just unacceptable though, he's got to work harder on that.

I actually think the misses were a result of the practice. He looked like he was forcing himself to shoot that way. If he shot how he was comfortable he probably wouldn't have missed as much. But this is for the long haul. If it becomes second nature he'll shoot better

in time hell be the Dwight we've all seen. he's gotta take it slow and you can tell he is trying to get there. today he was def frustrated. a lot of lobs and dunks he would have done in one motion but he had to bring it down and gather himself and go up which just ended in a foul bc he's a bad ft shooter.

him and Nash need to be allowed to run pnr. we better see that a lot otherwise mike brown doesn't know ANYTHING about bball. the perfect fit for pnr and you haven't used it once.

I think it's possible Stephen a smith nailed it. He said Dwight will be back January. Maybe he meant the real Dwight lol

It'll be December or January before he's back to his old self physically. His FT's, on the other hand I don't expect to change.

Maybe, but it was reported that he was shooting like 80% in practice (page 719 maybe) and that's with the new motion as well... His FTs were just plain AWFUL tonight, incredibly so.

I'm gonna be happy with 60% from Dwight lol. Everyone else needs to shoot better though because Dwight is gonna put the opposition in foul trouble.

Guys like pau and Jordan hill who draw a lot of contact need to convert because Dwight is gonna get hacked

Its gonna be scary when were in close games. He's gonna have to do a Shaq and at least make em when they count.

It isn't as if he just started practicing free throws this summer...... it isn't as if he's working with a shooting coach for the first time either.... This is a part of his game that isn't going to change much..... because it isn't motion or form.... it's mental. Look at the crap Marion throws up there..... at 80%.... you're telling me it's a matter of form?...

He's just like Shaq.... he had his best season first.... and steadily got worse over his career. Last year he was under 50%....

My guess is that he will shoot between 50 and 55% this year.... so we better have another option late in close games....

My feed was very crappy (just moved, no cable or internet, watched on phone), but from what I had to work with, his FTs looked like the were mostly straight, he was just shooting the ball too hard. In Orlando he'd miss them horribly, way off on one side alot of the time, so as far as his release goes there's been some progress.

As last stand said, he's taking Person's instructions and right now he has to force himself to shoot FTs a new way, whereas its hopeful that it will become second nature to him he can be a better FT shooter than he was with the Magic. He'll never be a good FT shooter, but Id imagine they're hoping he can finish the season at 60% to start.

Other than the FTs he wasn't too bad considering.

Very true, sometimes we forget that when we don't see the same Dwight out there, he will get his jumping & his timing back during the season. For now, he does seem like he has a good ways to go, could be a positive in terms of improving his post game.

Yeah, he didn't look like the old Dwight; that will come in time. Tonight his FT shooting was horrible, though. Actually, downright embarrassing...
