I can't see Kobe being traded, it would be one if the biggest slaps in the faces to an all time great franchise player ever to not let him retire a Laker. I understand the thinking behind a report like that though, the Lakers chose Kobe over an aging Shaq, but it's hardly the same thing.

^Yup. From everything I read, to Dwight's interviews, to his Adidas contract, to his extra 5th year & 30 million dollars, it's very highly unlikely that Dwight leaves this market. I just don't see it happening. The Lakers will make sweeping changes across the board to keep this guy.

Kobe & Dwight are going to have to kiss & makeup & make this marriage work. Simple & plain.

They'll get that. And if/when Dwight heals up he's going to feel better and when he feels better he'll play better.

And when he plays better, we'll win more games.

And when we win more games, Kobe will be happy because that's all Kobe cares about.

They better, if they want to make a nice playoff run next year. Because there will be no dramatic changes. Especially if Jamison agrees to 1 more year of vet. minimum. We're only going to have Hill back. And if Dwight commits, which he probably will -- we might get something for Pau. But I certainly don't expect any superstars or any long contracts. Everything is planned for 14/15.

If we could trade Dwight and Ron for K-Love (assuming he was 100% cleared and healthy) and an athletic, 2-way wing (something like Batum), would you not bite on the deal?

I wouldn't.

Love/Batum is great, but AT FULL STRENGTH is Nash/Bryant/Batum/Love/Gasol a Championship team? Better question, is it better than Nash/Bryant/Artest/Clark/Howard at full strength?

Short answer: no. Because when they're at full strength Bryant and Howard are the best players at their position and can dominate a game in a way that Love, Batum, and Gasol cannot. Howard at his best is better than anyone else inside by far.

Considering Batum and Love are just as much health risks right now as Howard and to me that decision is easy.

Not to mention you might be able to get Love as a Free Agent in two years or heck even this summer with Gasol's expiring.

I guess I'm just lacking faith in Howard's recovery. I'd LOVE for it to happen. I'm not a Dwight hater...I just question his #1) fundamentals #2)effort on the Lakers #3)potential to return to healthy.

But as was stated, yes, I (as well as CL) will have a complete change of heart on Dwight if and when #2 & #3 are addressed.

But you're right. At full strength....but that is an "if" at this point.

His full strength will never be what it was in Orlando, but at full strength NOW he'd be able to jump a little higher, move a little faster, battle a little longer, and hold the ball a lot stronger.

A lot of his physical issues are simply that he's not used to playing at this weak of a level. He hasn't looked this small since his 2-3rd year in the league. Let him work out and heal up and get back to it and he'll be more confident mentally and he'll have some more fun.

I have more faith in his recovery physically than his failure.
