D12 Discussion: Dwightmare over! (1139)

Well that's my point he has to shoot better than his average, 60% should be a reasonable goal and expectation. Still though, no we don't win on numbers alone if he makes his average, but his misses were doing more than losing us points, they were killing any momentum we could gather.

3/14 is inexcusable, always. Doesn't matter if Denver went 0-30 or something as a team, 3/14 cannot be excused, learn how to shoot a freaking free throw.

yea i agree it's pretty nauseating. but say he shot close to his average, we still wouldn't have won.

we would never know.. if he made just 50% we could have cut it to 5 points or so. from there who knows with mamba....but we were stuck at 9+ forever

Howard made first two FTs of the game. He proceeded to go 1-12 after that

Un-f'ing-believable. I can't think of anyone more mentally weak at the FT line.

It's odd. This would be like a professional tennis player who couldn't serve.

Dwight was so bad today...Karl was running plays picking on him and Kobe...Lawson scored, Andre Miller scored and even Wilson Chandler scored in 1 on 1 situations. Dwight mannnn Faried and McGee ate him up. Im starting to hate Denver

Dwight is the overpriced tyson chandler. He is great to have as long as he is not making the maximum dollars.

Howard had a strange game. He was played like a fiddle at times by Karl and McGee.... He played some good defense.... Rebounded well and completely stunk at the line....even by his standards.

17-44 I believe since the break from the line.

He'll get better, he's still not 100% so I didn't expect him to have a super dominant season after the injury.

back to back in denver i didnt expect him to be as active and energetic. but 3/14 FT is terrible. thats the one thing he could have controlled this game. his stat line was pretty good obviously but in a game like this hes gotta make at least half....

cant fault him on anything but the FT's just bc its a back to back in denver and hes admitted how many minutes he can give without tiring out now.

This, except Tyson Chandler can shoot FTs and will score even without complaining about touches...

Maybe this year, when he's been at 75% at the most. Anyone who has watched his career knows how big the gap between he & Chandler is.

Absolutely no feeling on his shot, ZERO.
Mechanics are good, but he just don't have touch, he is just throwing ball to the rim, the rest is luck.
And he even back of the line a little, because he is hitting back of the rim a lot, and still same result.
I just don't see how he can ever go up to 60%.

Moving back worked for a while but now he's back to shooting them long. It is unreal a guy could clank the back of the iron that many times in a row. Moving further back isn't a feasible solution, dude needs to get this non sense under control.

i thought throughout the game he had stretches where he showed the energy and hustle on D / boards. and times when he just didnt. it wasnt a terrible game from him...FT's killed him. didnt turn it over except once i think...didnt foul much...blocked shots...rolled hard and finished. just FT's and at times lack of energy on D which everyone was like tonight bc of the b2b in the mile high

And another big problem is his pick&roll with Steve.
OK, he is now starting to set a good screens, but it just seems like he can't simply catch the ball without any stripping or whatever, and that bounce pass from Nash is not working in traffic, he need to realize that.
Yes yes it's looking awesome when it goes true, but tonight there was always someone to cut it and it is automatic turnover and dunk/layup on the other side.
I just don't understand how such big professionals like them can't fix this, seriosly, it's ridiculous.
Just remember how easy pick&roll was looking with Nash/Gortat or Nash/Amare, i did't see that all season with this two....
Pau and Kobe are playing better pick&roll or pick&pop, that is cashmoney always.
I don't know, if Dwight re-sign with us, they need to get this fixed over summer, and Nash could do some work on Dwight free throws, because this is just awful, Shaq with his three finger's was shooting better :man3:

I think all of his makes were right at the rim with most of them being dunks off action. I don't remember a post touch that ended in a make.

I thought he played with decent energy but not a lot of smarts. Denver set him up in isolation on defense so when he left his man to chase the driving guard there was no way to cover his man. He just kept chasing... it resulted in a few blocks but it also resulted in several offensive rebound put backs for Denver.

And that's Dwight's fault?

He's being asked to challenge every shot, that's our defensive strategy. It's the team's responsibility to help the helper. If and when he goes for the block, someone somewhere needs to give him help. It's that simple.

Well, tell that to MWP, just watch game again and just watch help defense, it was all on MWP, he is just standing and watching while Faried is jumping all over court, Jamison is also trash on D, but i just can't be mad at him because at least he is doin work on O.
