Lakers stance on S&T for Howard will be absolutely not until the 11:59 hour - last minute we'll see (in general)

That's exactly what Dr. Buss would have done. If you're dumb enough to leave the Lakers, they're not going to help you. You're on your own.

An NBA executive said the Lakers will either, A, sign Dwight Howard, or B, let him walk if he wants and have ample cap space next summer.

According to a team source, LAL has not even broached* the possibility of trading Dwight to LAC w/ in-house discussions as of yet

My strong suspicion is that the Lakers would not be interested in a Dwight-Blake/Bledsoe deal. Strong.

How much dialogue have the Lakers had with Dwight and his representatives since exit interviews in May? "A LOT," texted a league source

I don't have a problem with Dwight looking around and trying to see what he can do/get. However, I am happy to see the Lakers standing with the idea that if he wants to walk...let him. Unless we get something great in return. LA isn't some bottom feeder team.
For what it's worth, the Lakers also clinched the Pacific Division, an achievement Bryant dismissed by saying "We don't hang divisions." No, only the big NBA championship banners are considered wall-worthy for the Lakers.

Yep. If you walk away from the Lakers, especially with the situation we'll be in a year from now, you're a fool. Bottom line.

Agreed. This is Howard's free agency - he's entitled to be the belle of the ball and all of that. It's fine, I just still don't see why in the world he'd go to any of these other second tier franchises for ultimately less money, less endorsements and less fame. I get it that he doesn't like Mike. Nor do most of us fans. That's fine for him to try to pressure the Lakers into getting rid of D' Antoni and making some personnel moves as well this summer to be more competitive. But at the end of the day there really isn't a better place for him than here if he wants to get back to the top.

And yeah, there's no way in hell the Lakers agree to trade to the Paper Clips for that package. That's a no go. If those two want to play so badly together Paul needs to do what realdeal talked about - negotiate a 2 year deal with the Clips with second year player option. He's in the driver seat. If it were my career I'd want to play for the Lakers not them. That way he works his way back to where he should have been before the infamous "Basketball Reasons." It's pretty simple really.

What I don't like about Dwight and Paul is that they're both unwilling to look like the bad guy in any trade situation. Paul most likely contributed to the firing of Vinnie, yet he's been backstepping since the firing to make it look like he had no part of it.

As for Dwight, he is the bad guy in the Orlando fiasco. Stan bent over backwards for Dwight, helping create a team where he thrived, and sheltering his incomplete game from negative press, and Dwight repays him with a hearty back stab. In Orlando, everyone was trying to help him.

Now he's in a situation where it would help him to be the bad guy, and get D'Antoni fired. He may be the only one that can pressure the front office. Instead, he's looking for an easy way out, hoping that he can team up with Chris Paul, and everyone who will be hurt by that decision is supposed to help them achieve it. I hope the Lakers let him walk.

Blake & Bledsoe for Dwight....YES!

Postby LakerJack on Sat Jun 15, 2013 7:35 pm

ESPN reporting Clips offering Blake & Bledsoe for Dwight sign & trade. Can the Lakers make salary cap work? Butler included?

Among scenarios Clips considering, sources say, is offer of Blake Griffin & Bledsoe in sign-and-trade pitch Lakers for Dwight after July 1

Very interesting if the Clips could get this done along with their rumored trade for Garnett and Doc Rivers (even though rumor also is the Clippers were the ones who declined). That team sounds deadly but so did the team last year...

Bledsoe is very overrated and I'm not sure I'd trade Pau for the butt Bafoon.....

^We're better off letting Pau's contract expire than trade him for Biff. We can find better options in the 2014 offseason.

griffin to the lakers is definitely not going to happen

i wouldn't want him anyways. plus bledsoe is not proven and comes off as overrated. and if howard walks away, so be it. he'll always be the guy who was supposed to be the lakers next great center but walked away after one season

I definitely do not want Griffin, I'd much rather let Howard walk and have an extra 20M + in cap space in 2014.

Anyone think we could flip Blake for Kevin Love + DWill2? So that'd be Love, Bledsoe, Dwill2 (& possibly picks) for Dwight. I'm sorry but I take that in a split second.

There is nothing thats going to be available in 2014 unless Lebron opts out. This is a tough one. You get a young all star PF and a young lighting fast PG who has some skills. Also, you have two players that are of the MDA mold. Damn, i dont know what to think.

Boston wants Bledsoe. How about this lineup:
Gasol
Blake G
Butler
Kobe
Rondo
All time Lakers team: Magic, Kobe, West, Worthy and Chamberlain.

No to Griffin.

Dwight can, and should, explore the options this summer.

But if he does not want to be on the Lakers? Just let him walk, save money and make a really big splash next year.

Well, I don't get why everyone's so down on Griffin and Bledsoe here. I get that we have the 2014 plan, but no big FA there seems like a franchise player. It's not like LeBron's about to leave the Heat, and too early for someone like Kyrie to bolt.

You don't know that. Wade is breaking down, and Bosh is playing like a wuss. The Heat's window is closing fast. Lebron is absolutely looking at every option, and it wouldn't surprise me at all if he was the Lakers roster by 2014.

The Lakers are in prime position to rebuild, trading for max level guys like Griffin who don't show up in the playoffs, nor have fundamentally sound games is a great way to insure years of mediocrity. Bledsoe and Griffin are not corner stone players for a franchise like the Lakers. The Lakers are waiting for a superstar to fall into their laps.

Because he has poor fundamentals, just like Dwight. However, Dwight is a defensive beast and one of the strongest guys in the league, while Griffin... is not. He's a good flopper though.

BG32 is not a perfect player just like every other player in the league BUT lets look at the reality of the situation IF true.
1. if D12 doesn't want to be here you must deal him
2. if you can get BG32 a absolute no denying star in this league you have to do it to add to chance of attracting other players.
3. you would be foolish to let him walk and HOPE that in 2014 free agents want to flock to LA which maybe FOOLS GOLD just like it was fools gold think D12 wouldn't won't to leave simply because we are the Lakers.
4. also if true you can get a stud young talented pg in the deal in bledsoe which is a massive need for this team.
5. as much as it sucks yes we are committed to that fool of a coach MDA so why not give him a young athletic big who can play in his system. Imagine going small with BG32 at the 5 surrounded with shooters giving bigs massive headaches trying to run the floor with him.
