Good game despite the foul trouble. I love it when he's active defensively because he changes the game for the opposition. Offensively, he had a couple of nice post moves. We looked to him more often today. He delivered.

From like 2008, those NBA on ESPN commercials are hilarious.

That is really funny, strange that I haven't seen either of those, as much as I bash ESPN I have watched it almost daily for at least a decade now. As far as actual revenge goes, there was actual talk on ESPN shows about what Dwight said and if it should be fined or he should be warned or something, and I thought that was pretty ridiculous, as did the hosts of the show. They mentioned Kobe saying he has to wait for revenge on Jones too, which Kobe was not fined or punished for saying. You really can't, because neither guy said they're going to get physical revenge, do physical harm, I'm sure all Kobe meant was score all over Jones and beat his team and Dwight meant he "won't forget" and will dunk all over Lee next time.

This one has always been my favorite as well.

Although that Dwight, David Lee commercial is really fitting for the occasion :man10:

What is that now...... 10-27 (37%) over the last two?....

This team.... and for that matter most teams can't overcome this kind of deficit on a consistent basis.

I love his effort on D, on the boards, some nice passes and scores, but the free throw thing is embarrassing. If he truly hits 80% in practice then he has no excuse for not even be able to hit say 60% in games. But to go 7-17 yesterday and 3-10 tonight, that's just sad, come on.

Well.... playing devil's advocate here..... If Pau hadn't injured his foot would Earl Clark's absence have ever meant anything..... I'm also not sure if Pau's absence wasn't the turning point for our second half run that has us where we are....

I like Earl's game....but seriously folks...if we're looking to Earl's absence/injury as a major reason for the demise of this season, something seriously isn't right. :man10:

I will maintain, the day we looked over the best to hire D'Antoni is the day the season was lost.

I wish I could say it's just D'Antoni, but I can't. He's part of it, for sure. Not because he's a horrible coach (he's not), but because this team is not made for his style. So, yes, he's a big part of the problem. But let's not be unfair, even if we don't like the guy.

There were numerous injuries to every key player on the team.
We were not able to work on chemistry.
We're too old, resulting in us
    -Playing horrible transition defense
-Not being able to heal fast
-Not being able to switch gears when needed late in the game(s)
Kobe and Dwight were not on the same page early in the season and then
Dr. Buss died.

I mean, everything that can go wrong - went wrong. Including the coach. I'm just saying let's not make the guy look like a criminal here. I wanted Phil, but it's not like MDA is not putting an effort on D (Kobe), missing free throws (Dwight), not being able to jump or challenge anything in the paint (Pau), being a black hole on the offensive end (Metta), or not having enough talent (Morris, Sacre). He did not drive drunk or sulk on the bench either (Ebanks).

^Actually Pringles has shown that he indeed does not put any effort into coaching defense, and that alone is enough to justify making him out to be a criminal.

Phil did not coach any defense either. That was left to other coach(es). Kobe himself said that Phil never talked about defense except "you guys will figure it out."

We had a defensive specialist coach at the beginning of the season. Remember that guy? :man1:

This team is old and injured on top of that. Those guys can't play D even if their life depended on it. Dwight can, alright. He almost can't help himself but play defense. The rest are pretty much garbage, except 100% healthy Metta, who has slowed down considerably, so he's just alright now.

Quick edit:

let me just list our guys here -

Nash: not a lick of D most of the time. Gets destroyed after being screened. Old.
Meeks: alright defender, but routinely gets abused by bigger guys.
Blake: see Meeks. Getting old.
Kobe: only when absolutely healthy and motivated. Otherwise gambles and gets abused by quick guys and shooters. Old.
Metta: alright defender when healthy. Old.
Clark: solid, but inexperienced; commits silly fouls on shooters.
Jamison: not a lick of D in his whole career. And I love the guy. Old.
Pau: used to be above average, just like Odom. Now is absolute garbage. Can't block 6-1 guards in the paint going for a layup. Can't jump anymore. Old.
Dwight: elite defender when motivated to play it. Which is thankfully most of the time.

That's our rotation right there. Good luck with that.

Then you put MDA on top of that, and it becomes even worse. But he's not the reason they don't play D.

Not gonna derail the thread much more (we can always shift to the MDA thread), but we dont have another coach under Pringles here teaching defense. If we did and the defense was better no one would be complaining about that. Phil was never a defensive coach but he made sure he had a crew in place to ensure we were a good defensive team, because like most sensible people, he knew it's kinda sorta important to play D in basketball.

Brown just had the reputation as being a defensive coach.

This team is old and slow, but show me one person who doesn't think that this same team would be noticeably better defensively if Thibs was the coach and I'll show you a crazy person.

It would be slightly better, I agree. But with these injuries and old, slow guys -- not very noticeably better, no. And that's the difference between a "no D" coach (MDA) and by far the best defensive coach in the league (Thibs).

Every one wanted PJax back but seems to forget he NEVER coached Defense either. Kind of double-standardish isn't it?
