The Lakers' coach also questioned the basic premise that players need to be close off the court to play well together on it.

"I don't know. I played on a lot of teams and I never really hung out with guys all the time," D'Antoni said. "I don't think you have to love each other. But you have to respect each other with what they do on the court."

BTW, on that article Rock posted, I have noticed a lot of miscommunication (?) between Howard and Nash or them having different ideas about what they want to do, i.e. Nash dribbling the ball top of the key waiting for Howard to come set the screen and Howard not going over there and instead waiting to get the ball on the block.

I think Nash is recognizing that Howard on the block isn't nearly as good an option as many thought and he's wanting to run P&R more and more, thus sometimes going away from the original course of action and going to the other side of the court and playing P&R with Pau (happened this last game at least once).

I've noticed Dwight hasn't been very prepared for Nash's passes. When he catches them he fumbles the ball a lot and it destroys the rhythm of the play. It seems no one the court is really comfortable with Nash's style of play yet. They aren't used to having a guy out there who throws passes you don't expect someone to make and it catches them off guard, especially the bigs.

I'd go so far as to say that our issues have been floor balance REGARDLESS OF WHO THE COACH has been. We don't have players that complement each other and we have a bunch of guys who are used to being the focus of their teams. I don't care how much fans think that a bunch of allstars can magically play together it usually fails more than it succeeds if you look at the past of most major pro sports..... or at the very least it takes a while to learn to play together in sacrificial roles.....

My issue has always been with our forwards. Neither really fit with Nash, Kobe and Dwight. We need floor stretchers and athletes at those positions to balance out the age/experience at the others.
